Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 fans have been looking forward to the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con ever since it was announced that the game's Zombies mode would be revealed at the event. Zombies remains one of the most popular Call of Duty game modes for good reason, and fans are excited to see the innovators of Zombies, Treyarch, return to the helm.

Black Ops 3 enthusiasts were not disappointed, as Treyarch did indeed unveil Zombies as it will appear in the new game. Adopting the moniker Shadows of Evil, this latest take on Zombies is set in the 1940's, and features four brand new, morally questionable characters that have to work together against the zombie hordes while being manipulated by the mysterious Shadow Man.

The trailer reveals a lot about the new take on Zombies, and it looks to be far more heavily focused on story than any other Zombies iteration in the past, which was previously hinted at by some leaked Black Ops 3 details. It also offers a glimpse on new power-ups, obtained through a gumball machine, as well as new enemy types. It looks like players will also have to contend with otherworldly beasts besides zombies, including a three-headed creature with tentacles and large flying insects.

The four new characters will have their hands full facing these threats, and it will be exciting to experience their adventure. The four playable characters, known as The Magician, The Femme-Fatale, The Cop, and The Boxer, are played by Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, and Ron Perlman respectively. In addition, the antagonistic Shadow Man will be portrayed by Robert Picardo.

It was also announced during Comic-Con that those that order the Collector's Edition of Black Ops 3 (which also comes with a Juggernog mini fridge) will receive a bonus map in the form of The Giant. The Giant map is a remake of Der Riese, a fan favorite from Call of Duty: World at War. It stars the original four Zombies survivors, and will look to resolve the Zombies cliffhanger from Black Ops 2. Purchasers of the Hardened Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive this bonus map as well. Activision will presumably make it available as a stand-alone download at some point, similarly to how they handled Nuketown Zombies in Black Ops 2.

The Zombies mode in Call of Duty is no stranger to celebrity guest appearances. In fact, the most recent entry in the series, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, features a DLC Zombies mode that includes stars such as Bill Paxton and Rose McGowan, among others, with B-movie icon Bruce Campbell added later.

Treyarch themselves have dabbled with utilizing celebrities to play the characters in Zombies in the past as well. For the original Black Ops, they released a Zombies map named Call of the Dead that featured the likes of Danny Trejo, Michael Rooker, Robert Englund,  Sarah Michelle Gellar as playable characters, and even legendary filmmaker George A. Romero as a giant, electrified zombie.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available on November 6th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
