Recently, Black Myth: Wu Kong has taken the gaming conversation surrounding the next-generation by storm. The Black Myth: Wu Kong trailer’s popularity was actually not the main goal, as the team at Game Science was actually looking for more skilled employees interested in joining the team.

The 13-minute gameplay trailer for Black Myth: Wu Kong got tons of people excited online, but some felt the gameplay looked too good to be true and speculated it wasn’t actually gameplay. Now, it seems a recent Twitter video confirms the demo appearing in the trailer is actual gameplay, as evident by Game Science Studio’s CEO playing it live.

Players are on pins and needles awaiting more details on everything surrounding the next generation of consoles. From the price points of the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles to details and evidence of what advantages next-generation hardware can actually bring to games, players are wondering just what the next generation has in store for them. Reports detailing developers are struggling to scale down next-gen titles for the PS4 and Xbox One have players equally excited and nervous for the future of games. Now, the recent debut of Black Myth: Wu Kong has fans even more interested in what next-gen games can do.

The Black Myth trailer’s gameplay was impressive, to say the least, showcasing incredibly smooth animations, lush environments, and brilliant lighting effects throughout. It was so impressive that many people thought the trailer was too good to be true, and that the gameplay demo had to be falsely manufactured in some way. Now, it seems like that isn’t the case thanks to a Twitter video showing the studio’s CEO Feng Ji playing a build of the game. The portion of the game Ji is playing is the same portion that kicks off the gameplay in the recent trailer.

Seeing Ji actually play this portion of the trailer off-screen should alleviate some people’s fears that the gameplay trailer was too good to be true. While the game is still using an alpha build, it looks incredibly impressive for modern game standards. Black Myth: Wu Kong looks to be an action game with an engaging combat system, reminiscent of games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice or even Devil May Cry. As mentioned above, Game Science is still looking for talented developers to help fully flesh out the game and bring it to life.

One very interesting draw about Black Myth: Wu Kong is that it’s a new take on a Chinese classic tale. The story of Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is one of the most famous Chinese legends. Chinese mythology isn’t the most popular setting in games, so hopefully, Black Myth: Wu Kong can bring it to light for more players.

Black Myth: Wukong is currently in development for PC and unspecified platforms.
