After more than three years of waiting, Black Mirror is finally set to return for season 6. The acclaimed British science fiction series is currently in the casting process, and the latest additions could be Salma Hayek Pinault and Annie Murphy.

The return of Black Mirror was revealed in May, and for the last month or so fans have received a steady stream of announcements about who has been chosen to star in the show's triumphant return. In mid-July, a long list of new names was added to Black Mirror, and the casting process is far from over.

Variety reports that Black Mirror is in talks to add two more big names to the cast: Hayek Pinault and Murphy. Hayek Pinault is an award-winning Mexican-American actress known for her work in films like From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Frida (2002), Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003), and most recently Eternals (2021) and House of Gucci (2021). Murphy is a Canadian actress best known for her breakthrough role as Alexis Rose in the sitcom Schitt's Creek (2015-2020) and since then as Ruth Brenner in the Netflix comedy series Russian Doll (2022). Murphy's casting seems to suggest that at least one of the episodes in the series may go the comedy route rather than the dark, dystopian drama that the series is best known for—but fans have to wait and see.

Hayek Pinault and Murphy would join a long list of acclaimed talent for Black Mirror season 6. Already announced cast members include Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Joker), Paapa Essiedu (Gangs of London), Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down, Penny Dreadful), Kate Mara (House of Cards), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Clara Rugaard (The Rising), Auden Thornton (This Is Us), and Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts). Recently, the show added to its cast Rory Culkin (Signs), the younger brother of Macaulay and Kieran Culkin.

The new season is only in the casting stages, so it will still be a long wait until season six is released. However, fans do already know that the new season will consist of more than three episodes, making it longer than season five. The new season is also expected to release on Netflix despite major changes behind the curtain. Since 2019 when the previous season was released, Black Mirror showrunners Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones have created their own production company, Broke and Bones, which will lead the science fiction series' production from this point forward.

Black Mirror season 6 does not yet have a release date.
