Dwayne Johnson has already paraded that Black Adam will be part of the DCEU’s new “phase 1” of storytelling. It remains to be seen what exactly is in phase 1 and what the ultimate goal of the DCEU is. However, thanks to Black Adam and his violence, audiences have a good idea of the direction of the cinematic universe and where hope lies in some characters.

The DCEU could very well be in the beginning stages of its own DC Rebirth, and Black Adam could be the catalyst it needs. Plenty of characters were introduced, as well as plenty more teased, and more movies have hopefully been set up for the future of the DCEU.

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Black Adam!

8 Doctor Fate Film

There could be two directions that the DCEU takes with Doctor Fate. The first could very well be an origin story of how Kent Nelson found the helmet of Nabu. Considering Black Adam delves into so many characters, it’s hard to flesh everything out. Doctor Fate’s entire lore wasn’t explored fully, leaving plenty of room for a DCEU prequel or, perhaps, a sequel.

Fate’s journey ends in death, but the helmet disappears, meaning that perhaps audiences have not seen the last of Doctor Fate. The helmet of Nabu may be searching for a new candidate, a host that can uphold the world as a Lord of Order and keep magic in the DCEU.

7 Hawkman And Hawkgirl Project

As the central leader of the JSA, Hawkman has plenty to do in Black Adam. Even if the majority of the time is spent butting heads with Teth-Adam. Armed with Nth Metal, Hawkman is a true threat to villains around the world. However, if he is paired with his wife, Hawkgirl, then criminals everywhere will be fearing this hawk-duo.

Hawkman’s journey into the DCEU is just beginning, and hopefully, there’s room for a solo project. However, Hawkman’s adventures are great solo, but even better with Hawkgirl. They are a great duo, and in the comics, they are bound by fate through reincarnation.

6 Black Adam Vs Shazam

Dwayne Johnson Black Adam Shazam

In a surprise and welcome cameo, fans got to see the Wizard again, whom they last saw in Shazam! This character is played by Djimon Hounsou and was the Wizard who gave Teth-Adam the incredible powers of Shazam. Considering that Black Adam tethers the DCEU with the inclusion of the Wizard, it’s only a matter of time before he faces off against Billy Batson.

Black Adam must hold some grudge against the Wizard, considering he was imprisoned in a dreamless sleep for thousands of years. By the time he was freed, he is in a modern world, with no knowledge of his surroundings or what happened to Kahndaq. To learn that his great power is in that of a child may further enrage him too.

5 Black Adam Vs Superman

By far the biggest set-up in Black Adam is the showdown of the century with Black Adam and Superman. Both characters are immensely powerful, and Superman may have some competition, considering he has a weakness in magic. The mid-credits scene with Black Adam shows what could be next, with a confrontation between Black Adam and Superman as the last scene of the film.

Dwayne Johnson has not been quiet about how much he wants Black Adam to fight Superman, and with the fans demanding Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, perhaps both Dwayne Johnson and audiences will get their wish sooner than they think.

4 Superman Returns!

In the Black Adam post-credits scene, Superman emerges back into the DCEU. It had been years since Henry Cavill wore the red cape, and finally, he’s back, with John Williams’ iconic Superman theme and the famed Superman curl. There’s limitless potential with the return of Superman, and a bright future for the DCEU awaits.

Fans have been speculating whether or not Henry Cavill will return as Superman for years, and Black Adam solidifies his place as the first superhero once more. Now, a Man of Steel sequel seems more than likely, as Superman’s story is far from over.

3 Suicide Squad Sequel

Characters in Suicide Squad

Amanda Waller plays a surprisingly big role in Black Adam. She sends out the JSA to capture and secure Black Adam so that he may be placed in the underwater Task Force X prison. When audiences see this prison, they see a bunch of unknown characters in suspended animation. It begs the question of what powerful characters Amanda Waller has at her disposal.

The Suicide Squad is integral to the DC Universe, and it places the spotlight on the anti-heroes and villains of the DC Universe, like Harley Quinn. Great stories are waiting to be told with a Suicide Squad sequel, and hopefully, it paves the way for more Peacemaker.

2 Protector Of Khandaq

Dwayne Johnson Black Adam Early Reviews

At the end of Black Adam, Teth-Adam destroys the ancient throne of Kahndaq and claims that his great home does not need a ruler but a protector. Here, audiences see Black Adam forge himself as an anti-hero to the world, but Kahndaq’s savior, not its king.

It helps set up a sequel for Black Adam, as it ensures that Black Adam’s story is not yet over, and he will continue down the best path that he sees for not only himself but for the people of Kahndaq. As their protector, many threats may enter Kahndaq, but Black Adam will make sure they won’t leave alive.

1 More Justice Society

Hawkman-JSA

The newest recruits to the Justice Society are Cyclone and Atom Smasher. These two characters had great chemistry, and the potential for their stories is far from over. Perhaps a JSA-led film will shed further light on these characters or seek to introduce more famed JSA members to the DCEU.

There can never be too many comic book characters in the DCEU, and the Justice Society is ripe with potential. They have famous members like Power Girl, Wildcat, the original Green Lantern, and Flash. Introducing these characters into a superhero team project could lead to a greater DCEU expansion.
