Dwayne Johnson's journey into the world of superheroes has been a long one, but it seems to finally be on track with production on Black Adam commencing this week. In a social media post, the actor confirmed this bit of information, while revealing his physique that he has been working on for months.

For more than a year, the wrestler-turned-actor has been providing updates on the work he is putting in to prepare for his portrayal of the notorious DC villain, with his official training beginning in January 2020. With months of preparation, a vigorous regimen, and a special diet, it seems like Johnson is now all set to fit his new Black Adam costume.

Having started his career as a professional wrestler, Johnson has always been known for his bulky physique, which has helped him over the years to represent the various action heroes he has played in his movies. But, since Black Adam was officially announced, Johnson has highlighted his intense physical fitness routine in several of his Instagram posts, along with some of the injuries he has had to endure along the way. With a mixture of cardio, resistance training, and lifting some heavy weights, the actor has come a long way in the past year.

Johnson first signed on to play the DC character in 2014 and there were talks of Black Adam appearing in Shazam!, but it was later revealed that his introduction would be reserved for his solo film instead. Black Adam was originally scheduled to begin filming in August 2020, but as with many other projects, production had to be pushed back due to the pandemic. While Johnson had begun physical training, Warner Bros. announced that the film was being removed from their 2020 calendar, pushing Black Adam production to 2021. It was originally revealed that filming would commence in April, and Johnson’s latest Instagram post has now confirmed the news.

His millions of Instagram followers seem to be quite invested in the Black Adam film, with thousands of exciting comments flowing in, commending his physique and celebrating the fact that Black Adam is finally going to production. Johnson’s post makes the villain-centric movie feel closer to becoming reality for fans, and he seems to be in shape to become DC’s next potential icon. Other actors on the film’s roster are also following in Johnson’s footsteps and preparing for the film. Aldis Hodge, who will be playing Hawkman, also recently revealed his workout routine in a shirtless photo. Noah Centineo joined in as Atom Smasher and has also been working on his physique lately.

Black Adam will release in theaters on July 29, 2022.
