Even before the game released, Resident Evil Village was inspiring fan-made mods in other games and not just the other entries in the series. One person managed to create a costume mod for Fallout 4 that dressed their character up as the now iconic Lady Dimitrescu. And now with the game out, it hasn't taken the modding community long to come up with new ideas purely to make everyone else laugh.

For instance, one JTegh on Nexus Mods has made one for a joke that only lasts until the end of Resident Evil Village's opening act. As a reminder, the game begins with a brief prologue section where main character Ethan Winters is spending a quiet evening with his wife Mia and baby daughter Rosemary, before Chris Redfield bursts in to the house to kill Mia and seemingly kidnap Rose.

During this section, the player must carry Rose to bed and put her down for the night. What JTegh's mod does, however, is change this section ever so slightly by replacing Rose's head with Chris'. So, instead of taking care of his baby girl, Ethan will be carrying a miniature Chris, thus the mod's name of Mini Me Chris, no doubt a reference to Austin Powers.

The sight of a Chris Redfield adult head on a baby's body is inherently bizarre and can either be really funny to look at or slightly off-putting depending on personal preference. The mod ultimately doesn't affect anything else, with JTegh admitting in the mod description they only did it for the joke. According to the description, Rose does have her own facial animations which work on the mini Chris, although some aspects may look a bit weird.

Since Rose is taken away very early on and remains missing for the majority of the game, players will only get to enjoy the joke for a short while. Maybe the image of Chris holding a baby version of himself will be worth the download and elicit a good chuckle.

These aren't JTegh's only mods either. A quick search shows that they've made a counterpoint to the baby Chris mod by putting Rose's head on Chris' body (which is possibly even more disturbing to look at) as well as one that dresses up Dimitrescu's daughters like the YorHa androids from Nier: Automata.

There are plenty of other noteworthy Resident Evil Village mods to track down and download. Perhaps the least surprising one is a mod that replaces Dimitrescu with Thomas the Tank Engine. The idea of putting Thomas into different games appears to be a rather popular one. The exact same idea was also done with Resident Evil 2 Remake, where a mod could be used to replace Mr. X with the train.

Resident Evil Village is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
