Ever since Pokemon Sword and Shield was announced earlier this year, Nintendo has been hard at work promoting the next entry in the series. Typically this has been done through trailers and Nintendo Directs, but next week, audiences will be treated to something very different.

The Pokemon Company has announced a livestream that is completely out of the ordinary. It will kick off next Friday, October 4, and will begin at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET. What makes it unlike previous livestreams is that it will broadcast 24 hours of live footage from Glimwood Tangle, one of the new areas in the Galar region, where Pokemon Sword and Shield takes place. From this fictional forest, Sonia, Professor Magnolia's assistant and granddaughter, will set up a camera and record while she conducts research on Pokemon in the area.

The livestream will shed some light on Glimwood Tangle while allowing audiences to see what they may encounter should they venture there in-game. The homepage for the stream notes that viewers "may notice things that surprise you", which strongly suggests new Gen 8 Pokemon could be revealed. Those interested in checking it out can tune in next Friday via Twitch.

Speaking of new Pokemon, there is one in particular that has recently captured the attention of trainers everywhere. Last week, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company revealed Sirfetch'd, the evolution of Farfetch'd. This gallant-looking Pokemon has white feathers and is appropriately armed with a sword and shield. Any trainers that want to catch Sirfetch'd will be required to purchase Pokemon Sword in order to do so. Otherwise they will need to trade with another player who has that version.

Two other new Pokemon made their debut earlier this month. During the September 4 Nintendo Direct, Cramorant and Polteageist were announced. Cramorant is a flying/water-type that has a unique ability called Gulp Missile that will force a fish to get caught its mouth. If an enemy attacks the Pokemon during this time, Cramorant will counter by spitting the fish at them. Polteageist is a new ghost-type that looks exactly as its name implies: a haunted teapot. The Nintendo Direct describes it as a "ghost made of tea" and says it "may let a trusting trainer taste its tea." While not officially confirmed, a recent datamine of the Pokemon website indicates Polteageist evolves from another Pokemon.
