A car accident in Georgia is being compared to Mario Kart after a turtle ended up lodged in a window while going down the highway. It's a bizarre circumstance, to say the least, and led to many on Twitter commenting on the absurdity of the situation.

The driver, Latonya Lark, posted an update on Facebook about the incident, showing the damage the turtle had done to her windshield. The turtle was lodged in the passenger side of the vehicle but was removed and taken to a wildlife reserve. Unfortunately, it appears the turtle died due to blood loss, though everyone else involved in the incident was relatively unscathed, besides some cuts and scrapes.

Naturally, the incident led to comparisons of shells from Mario Kart being thrown at other racers, as morbid as it may seem. It is, however, an apt comparison. As of this writing, it isn't clear where the turtle actually came from, though the current theory is that it was hit by a different car on the highway, and launched into Lark's vehicle.

It is an unfortunate situation for the turtle, but Lark will now have an interesting story to tell for the rest of her life. Strange events have been happening fairly frequently around the world, with a Florida man recently using a deserted Disney island as a temporary home during the quarantine. Of course, that didn't draw any Mario Kart comparisons, but it was still quite the event.

Before the chain's closure, one Toys R Us employee found Mario Kart 64 hidden beneath a shelf. Mario Kart 64 is one of the game's most-famous entries, in large part due to the nostalgia many have for the Nintendo 64 and being the franchise's first foray into the 3D world. Unfortunately, that was apparently just a box, but it was still an interesting find nonetheless.

Luckily, turtles hurtling towards cars at high speeds isn't commonplace, or real-life would land a spot on the list of Mario Kart's hardest tracks. Hopefully, there are no more turtle-related incidents in Lark's — or anyone else's — future, but it's certainly quite the story.
