It seems our friends at BioWare don't think they're busy enough working on merely Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic all at once, and that's not even counting the metric tonnes of DLC they've pushed out. Some internet sleuths investigated the LinkedIn profile of a current BioWare Quality Assurance Tester, Mitchell Fujino, and discovered that his current project with the company was listed as an unannounced handheld game.

You'd probably be forgiven for thinking that BioWare has never crept onto the handheld market before, but they actually developed Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the DS back in 2008 - a game that was well-received by critics and fans alike, and proof that BioWare know their games no matter the system. There's also the fact that Fujino also worked on the Sonic game back in 2008, so it would make sense that he would be included in QA for any kind of sequel to the game.

Seeing as no other mention of such a game has come from BioWare, we can assume we're in either the very early stages of building a stable release, or we're nearing a public announcement of the game. They certainly could have been taken on to continue the Sonic Chronicles and develop the next installment, which makes a lot of sense - however, they could also be working on bringing one of their series to the portable world.

Mass Effect is already on the iPhone with Mass Effect Galaxy, so I'm sure BioWare isn't afraid to delve that universe back to portability once again. Though a game like that might fit more on the PSP than the DS. Perhaps we could be seeing some kind of character spin-off with the series -- maybe it's time we see what a young Andersen could do.

If you want to do some sleuthing of your own, Fujino's LinkedIn account can be found here. Just note that going back to his resume once the game has been announced doesn't count as sleuthing, wise guy.

At the end of the day, nobody is certain what could possibly come next out of BioWare's next handheld gaming venture. However, we want to hear from you, Ranters! What do you think BioWare has cooking in the kitchen? Sonic? Dragon Age? Star Wars? Something completely knew? Post your thoughts below!
