Before EA's Press Conference at E3 2017 even began, rumors that BioWare's new intellectual property was slated to be revealed began to make their way around the internet. As it turns out, they were completely accurate: BioWare took to the stage to officially reveal Anthem, a game which promises a landscape of primeval beauty, massive dangers, and a community of soldiers going beyond the safety of a massive wall to venture into the world beyond.

The world's first look at Anthem was brief in nature, and aside of a few sparse establishing shots offers little intimate knowledge about the new intellectual property that BioWare has created. The trailer ends with someone saying "the story doesn't end here," though it seems like fans will have to wait until the next trailer to see how the story even begins.

The premise of venturing beyond a protective wall has been evident in popular fiction these days, playing a prominent role in popular properties like Game of Thrones and Attack on Titan. Now that BioWare is bringing a futuristic premise to the idea, however, there are plenty of possibilities for BioWare to make something unique.

Here's the official E3 2017 teaser trailer for Anthem:

The above trailer reveals that players will likely play the role of a soldier who dons a serious-looking exosuit, which is presumably require if one hopes to stay in one piece when travelling beyond the wall. These exosuits will feature jetpack capabilities, and will optimistically be implemented with a bit more polish than Mass Effect: Andromeda. It's not currently known if something more sinister than dinosaur-looking creatures lay in the tropic-looking stormlands beyond the wall, though an answer to that question should come from a more in-depth trailer due at Microsoft's E3 2017 Press Conference tomorrow.

The title will be powered by EA's Frostbite engine, though this should come to no surprise to gamers who have been following recent Electronic Arts releases. The engine is certainly capable of powering intricate worlds, and since BioWare promised landscapes that host primeval beauty, gamers should be expecting some great aesthetics when it comes to Anthem's setting.

Anthem currently has no release date, with a gameplay reveal trailer due to come at Microsoft's press conference on June 11th, 2017. It's not currently known if the title will be an Xbox One exclusive or not.
