A new BioShock: Infinite image has been revealed in preparation for a full trailer release later this week during the Spike Video Game Awards. While the image features nothing too revelatory, it does fit right in with the game’s art style.

From the image, players can see more of the city of Columbia and its persistent view, as well as a statue of a mysterious man in a top hat. Who this man is and what Fink MFG, the presumed company seen in the background, is yet unknown, but my gut tells me that the full BioShock: Infinite VGAs trailer will help provide an explanation.

The screenshot comes to us by way of Geoff Keighley who has been teasing many of the big VGA reveals, including the new title from BioWare and the PS3 exclusive The Last of Us. But our focus is squarely on BioShock: Infinite, and our hope is that this new trailer will not only be about the game’s content/story but also will finally give us a release date.

It’s been quite some time since the release of the full BioShock: Infinite E3 demo, and since then the folks over at Irrational Games have been relatively mum with details. They have, however, been giving greater looks into the making of BioShock: Infinite, including first hand accounts of early development on the game (some ideas that never made it in, voice actors’ inspiration, etc.).

The game, which is one of if not the most anticipated games of 2012, has plenty of mystery left, despite Irrational’s Ken Levine dropping story and character hints here and there. Hopefully this Saturday will remove a few layers of that mystery, but will still leave enough for our final experience with the game.

What do you make of this BioShock: Infinite screenshot? Who’s the guy recreated in golden statue form? What is Fink MFG? Feel free to share all of your thoughts and theories in the comments below.

BioShock: Infinite is slated for a Spring 2012 release date on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Spike VGAs air December 10, 2011 on Spike TV.
