It won't be long now until the highly anticipated BioShock Infinite finally finds its way out of development and into the hands of anxious gamers all around the world. Curious players have been awaiting the game's arrival since it was unveiled back in August 2010, but no one thought they'd be waiting this long to explore the sky-bound city of Columbia. Things are finally on track now, however, and fans can now officially begin to get excited for what awaits them this March.

As a way to keep gamers talking about their impending product, Irrational Games has released four new screenshots that highlight the in-game graphics and combat found in BioShock Infinite.

The screenshots certainly don't reveal anything new about the game, and they aren't nearly as exciting as the recent teaser that displayed the first five minutes of BioShock Infinite, but they act as a promising sign to anyone who was worried that the game may be delayed yet again. The images do give fans an idea of what to expect in terms of gameplay, though, and the combat looks as if it'll be a nice change of pace when compared to traditional first-person shooters — thanks largely in part to the skyhook.

It's just a shame that players won't be able to go head-to-head with one another in Infinite, if only because the combat looks as if it could provide players with one of the zaniest multiplayer offerings around. That said, it's good to see that Irrational Games is prioritizing, and making sure that the single-player campaign is as much fun as fans are hoping it'll be.

BioShock Infinite designer, Ken Levine, previously teased that the ending of his game would be "like nothing you've ever seen," so the hype for this title is understandably high. Gamers won't be waiting long to see if Levine delivers on his promise either, and (while it already feels like it's been an eternity since the title was announced) these screenshots should help tide gamers over for now.

BioShock Infinite will drop onto the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 26th.
