BioShock: Infinite is going to be a great game, no doubt. The CG trailer looks amazing, the themes and story behind it takes a new approach to an old concept, and with a full gameplay video coming soon, gamers will get a chance to salivate with good reason.
Today, we’re whetting those appetites with a quick BioShock: Infinite gameplay tease.
GameTrailers has released a sneak peek at the upcoming BioShock: Infinite gameplay trailer. The segment starts about thirteen minutes in, and from the brief gameplay shown, there’s a lot to unpack.
You’ll see gunfights, what appears to be a mode of transportation within the airborne city/ship of Columbia, a glimpse of Elizabeth (the girl you’re there to rescue), and perhaps the most dramatic change – sunlight.

Yes, the idea of playing in virtual sunlight is exciting to me, so what? It’s a nice change-up from the oppressive BioShock setting. The closed-in world of Rapture, with seawater slowly seeping in, confined the narrative – and limited the storytelling possibilities. With Infinite taking place in the wild blue yonder, it’ll be nice to see clouds, but it also brings up the question of whether or not Infinite will have a day/night cycle – and if it does, if the time-related visuals are scripted.
Another aspect of the game that I’m especially looking forward to is the art direction,which has always been a favorite of mine since the original BioShock, including the propaganda posters strewn about the city.
When the first BioShock came out and the original gameplay was shown, I was blown away. There were plenty of things to be impressed by and the first person genre had a breath of new life injected into it.
I’m truly hoping Ken Levine and his team will be able to top themselves with the upcoming title, but judging by the pedigree of Irrational Games, I don’t think that will be a problem. After all, Irrational promises the game will blow your mind.
