The Bioshock franchise is popular among fans for its unique environments and fast-paced gameplay. Bioshock Infinite takes that many steps higher. The game is now set in the sky. This new setting of Columbia meant drastic changes in the gameplay and combat, and it was well delivered.

With new Plasmids (which are now referred to as Vigors), and multiple new weapons, the game managed to give players the same Bioshock experience while building upon it. As Bioshock Infinite features many new ways to combat enemies, it is imperative to know what weapons work the best in-game.

Updated on June 1, 2022 by Ritwik Mitra: BioShock Infinite was a massive chapter in the series, serving as a departure from the confined halls of Rapture without losing the essence of what made this series great. The game still holds up to this day as one of the greatest action-adventure games of all time, and any person who picks this game up for free on the Epic Games Store will get an absolute bargain for the same. The weapons in BioShock Infinite were changed up quite a bit, and all of them are ranked below in terms of their effectiveness in battle.

14 Broadsider Pistol

Broadsider Pistol is the gun that Booker takes out of his box in the intro of the game. This is the first gun that players use in-game, which is why it is much weaker compared to the other weapons.

However, the Broadsider's weaknesses don't make it wholly useless either, as it can be used with other powerful guns and vigors for maximum impact. Broadsider Pistol's rate of fire is pretty high, which means it can always be an asset to the players.

13 Vox Burstgun

The Vox Burstgun in BioShock Infinite

Weapons that hit in a burst of three bullets at a time feel rather unwieldy to use across most video games, barring a few exceptions. The Vox Burstgun is a fundamental failure as a weapon because of this one caveat.

There's absolutely no reason whatsoever to use this gun over its vastly superior counterpart, the Huntsman Carbine. The only reason why players might think about using this weapon is to add some variety to the combat, although even that reason may not be enough for this weapon to be a part of anyone's arsenal.

12 Pig Flak Volley Gun

The Pig Flak Volley Gun is a rare weapon, which is what stops it from being any higher on the list. Volley Gun shoots grenades, and that makes it a beast of a gun. With severe damage and a reasonable rate of fire, Volley Gun can easily be considered one of the unique weapons in the game.

However, slow reloading does make it difficult for players to maintain an edge during combat. The gun can be used with the Undertow vigor, for easy-peasy kills.

11 Peppermill Crank Gun

Peppermill Crank Gun is basically a mini-gun. Players can get this by beating Patriots in-game. This weapon has a ridiculously fast fire rate and considerable magazine size, which makes it the best kind of heavy gun in Bioshock Infinite.

Shredding enemies into bits is extremely easy with the Crank Gun. However, the weapon does have many downsides, the biggest one being the fact that it is not always available to the player. The gun can be a great asset during certain boss fights. But only if players manage to get a hold of it.

10 The Barnstormer RPG

The Barnstormer RPG is a rocket launcher. And like every other rocket launcher, it's big, powerful, and slow. The best part of this weapon is its overall damage. It literally dissipates enemies in a blink of an eye.

However, all of its strengths are often overshadowed by its shortcomings. The weapon has a small magazine size and an even slower rate of fire. The gun can still be used to create some sweet moments, especially with the help of the Murder Of Crows vigor.

9 Vox Hail Fire

Vox Hail Fire in BioShock Infinite

The Vox Hail Fire is an altered version of the Pig Flak Volley Gun with a few fun caveats of its own. Overall, the damage of this weapon isn't as high as its counterpart... but players won't really mind this once they fire the weapon.

This is because the Hail Fire shoots projectiles so rapidly that any target is dead in the water the moment Booker shoots them with this explosive weapon. This does have the added drawback of the weapon's ammunition draining rapidly... but most people won't mind since they'll be switching around weapons pretty quickly anyway.

8 Sky-Hook

Sky-Hook in BioShock Infinite

The Sky-Hook is easily one of the best additions in BioShock Infinite. Using this tool to fly around the rails in-game and reach new areas never gets tiring.

In combat, this tool can be used to fly around open combat spaces and get the jump on enemies who might be shooting Booker from different levels in the arena. It also lets players carry out some truly grisly melee finishers, making the Sky-Hook a multi-purpose tool that fans will still remember fondly long after they're finished with playing BioShock Infinite.

7 Triple R Machine Gun

Triple R Machine Gun in BioShock Infinite

The Triple R Machine Gun is a pretty run-of-the-mill machine gun that players will find on several enemies in BioShock Infinite. Using them is a lot of fun, even though the common nature of this weapon might make it boring after a point.

However, there's no denying that the Triple R Machine Gun is one of the most reliable weapons in the game. Most firefights can be powered through with this weapon, even though it might not be the most exciting way to get through most of the combat encounters in BioShock Infinite.

6 Vox Repeater

Vox Repeater is an alternate version of the Triple R machine gun. What makes it better than the standard machine gun is its overall damage. The Vox Repeater deals twice as much damage.

However, it is a little slower but comparatively more comfortable to handle than before. The gun is excellent for middle ranged combat. The best part about the gun is that it can be used with almost any vigor to good effect. Vox Repeater, like Triple R, is the definition of balanced weapons in-game.

5 Huntsman Carbine

Huntsman Carbine is another member of the most balanced weapons in-game club. The gun is basically a sniper rifle without the scope. But on the plus side, it has a much higher rate of fire. The weapon is simply one of the most useful guns players will find in Bioshock Infinite. It has an average magazine size and the ability to hit targets from long and short range.

With upgrades, the gun can reach an ungodly level of power. Shooting headshots will never feel as satisfying with any other weapon, except for the sniper.

4 Vox Heater

The Vox Heater is a part of Columbia's Finest DLC. It has a low rate of fire, but it is the sheer power of this gun that gives it the edge. This gun is probably more damaging than the RPG, and that is saying something.

The Vox Heater is a shotgun with an open muzzle that is wrapped in red fabric. It has a vast spread when shooting, which makes it the second-best gun to use with the Undertow vigor. But even with this much power, its small ammo size makes the standard shotgun much more worth it.

3 China Broom Shotgun

China Broom Shotgun is the standard shotgun in Bioshock Infinite. It is everything that Vox Repeater is and better. The damage in China Broom is comparatively low to its sibling but still very high compared to other weapons. It's a short-range mammoth that will devour enemies in a few shots.

This, by far, is the best weapon to use in combination with the Undertow Vigor. It is quite fast for a shotgun and easy to handle. If upgraded to its full potential, players can complete the entire game without breaking a sweat.

2 Bird's Eye Sniper Rifle

This gun is essentially the Carbine, but with a massive scope. Bird's Eye Sniper Rifle has everything players look for in a gun while playing a Bioshock game. It has a vast range and stopping power that is unmatched by any other weapon.

Bird's Eye can make heads go pop like shooting balloons in Pooyan. It looks deadly and shoots even more fatal. With upgrades, the gun can reach a very high fire rate, which makes this very unstoppable weapon, totally unstoppable.

1 The Paddywhacker Hand Cannon

The Paddywhacker is the undisputed champ of guns in Bioshock Infinite. It has a high Spread and a decent rate of fire, which makes this gun very balanced in itself. But it's the damage that takes the cake. Using this gun in combination with the Shock Jockey Vigor will make the players unstoppable.

The Paddywhacker Hand Cannon turns Booker into the T-1000 from Terminator 2, a killing machine. Hand Cannon does have a small magazine size, but it shouldn't matter when every shot is a confirmed kill.

BioShock Infinite is available on PC, PS3, and Xbox One. The game is also part of BioShock: The Collection, which can be played on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
