BioShock creator Ken Levine has finally revealed his first new game since BioShock Infinite, and it's a brand-new first-person shooter IP called Judas. The Game Awards 2022 kicked off by awarding Christopher Judge the award for Best Performance for his role as Kratos in God of War Ragnarok and kept the excitement going by finally unveiling Judas to the world.

Ken Levine is most famous for his work on the BioShock franchise, directing the original game as well as BioShock Infinite, both of which are considered landmark releases. After BioShock Infinite's launch in 2013, Levine formed Ghost Story Games to work on a new project. Fans have been waiting nearly a decade to learn about Levine's next project, and now it has finally been revealed to the world.

Judas was revealed at The Game Awards with an impressive trailer that definitely gave off BioShock vibes. A single-player narrative-driven first-person shooter, Judas is aiming for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. In it, players take on the role of Judas, who has to find a way to escape a "disintegrating starship." There's still a lot left to be revealed about Judas' plot, but the game is meant to follow in the footsteps of Levine's previous titles, so it's definitely something BioShock fans will want to keep an eye on.

What's interesting is that Ghost Story Games is actually self-publishing the title. Ghost Story Games is a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, and since the BioShock games are published by 2K, one could be forgiven for assuming that Ghost Story's first project would be published by 2K as well. However, that is apparently not the case.

While Judas is not being published by BioShock publisher 2K, the game still clearly has a lot in common with the BioShock franchise. The gameplay on display in the trailer looks like a dead-ringer for BioShock, with environments that would look right at home in Rapture. What seems to set Judas apart from BioShock a bit is that it seems to be more sci-fi focused, with robotic characters and some kind of new technology that's taking the place of Plasmids.

Based on what's been shown so far, Judas looks as though it will hugely appeal to BioShock fans whenever it releases. Unfortunately, no release window for Judas was announced at The Game Awards, but now that it's finally been revealed, hopefully fans get to see more of the game sooner rather than later.

Judas is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
