BioShock 3 may be officially announced soon, Take-Two Interactive teases. After releasing games such as the highly successful Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, BioShock 3 could be the next popular sequel that fans have been asking for for years.

In its new earnings call for the second quarter of this financial year, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that the company has the "strongest development pipeline in history." Fans of Take-Two, which is the parent company of developers such as Rockstar Games and Hangar 13, can expect "sequels from our biggest franchises as well as exciting new IP," said Zelnick. Zelnick also said that the company is "exceedingly well positioned to capitalize on the positive trends in our industry and to generate growth and margin expansion over the long-term."

Take-Two may not have revealed which sequels its developers are working on, but some have suggested that it could be BioShock 3. The company has several major series that could do with a new game. One of these is Grand Theft Auto, as Rockstar Games may be developing Grand Theft Auto 6. There is also Mafia 4, a game which has also leaked. BioShock 3 would also be a popular sequel on that list.

Zelnick may not have completely confirmed that a new BioShock game is in development, but it isn't the only thing that fans have seen that suggests that a new game in the series is being made. Days ago, a job listing at 2K suggested that the next BioShock game would be a live service title. Live service titles are games that often get new DLC and updates after they've released and many also have events and multiplayer too. This types of games often have microtransactions, something which would be controversial in a narrative series like BioShock, but the developers may have found a way around that.

In 2018, there was also an article about a new BioShock game in development at a secret 2K studio. This hadn't been officially confirmed and the game was in early development when the article was published but 2K and Take-Two may not be ready to announce BioShock 3, if that's what the game will be called.

The BioShock series is hugely popular and fans keep creating BioShock memes and coming up with ideas for new games, more than six years after BioShock Infinite was released. Take-Two may not be ready to announce BioShock 3 now, but an announcement could potentially come in this financial year.

BioShock 3 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
