Parting is such sweet sorrow when it comes to you, my sweet underwater world of Bioshock and Bioshock 2. Having spent so much time cautiously turning every corner, I feel that much more connected to all that you had to offer. But, alas, your fountain has run dry and you have but one last gift to give to your devoted fans in the form of DLC.

Set for release on August 31st, the new DLC, titled 'Minerva’s Den', puts gamers in the role of Subject Sigma as they team up with that wily Brigid Tenenbaum in order to overthrow a dictator in one of Rapture’s many districts. No word on the how long it will take players to finish the side adventure but there is confirmation that we will see a new Big Daddy pop up to give gamers a new headache.

Priced at $9.99, or 800 MS points, this is the obvious choice for the DLC you should purchase if you are stingy with your money. Not only does it add to the narrative of the single player but it actually gives gamers a look into the rich back story of Bioshock, and really that is all gamers want.

With Bioshock: Infinite the new hot topic on everyone’s mind, it is only a matter of time before the waterlogged city of Rapture is all but forgotten. 2K Marin is wiping their hands clean of Bioshock 2 with this last DLC and moving onto other projects. We had some pieces of DLC that felt like they were simply exploiting our wallets and others that gave us some golf-club whacking fun, but the ball was definitely dropped when it came to expanding the experience of Bioshock 2. Perhaps, whenever that movie does come out our memories of Andrew Ryan and his underwater utopia will come flooding back to us, but for now we have a city in the sky to look forward to.

So Ranters, are you going to pick up your last piece of Rapture in the form of this DLC or have you already moved on to Bioshock: Infinite? Let us know in the comments below.

'Minerva's Den' the last DLC for Bioshock 2 will be released August 31st on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
