Another trailer for action RPG Biomutant has dropped today, and this one is just as gorgeous as those that came before it. Although some previous trailers have focused on Biomutant's flashy combat or detailed the game's tribal system, today's trailer simply basks in the glow of the seemingly massive open world. As a mutated creature in a post-apocalyptic Earth, players will have the chance to explore several different environments including expansive grassy meadows, snowy mountain passes, and dilapidated ruins with remnants of human architecture.

The world of Biomutant is in the midst of turmoil, with substances like toxic gas and oil contributing to the mutation of the creatures that inhabit it. Players will take control of a rodent-like creature mutated by the pollutants and will spend time fighting a host of unique enemies throughout the game. Biomutant's character creation system will allow players to manipulate six different essence attributes that will also affect characters physically, and once players have chosen their desired fur colors and tribal affiliation, they will be ready to explore.

As seen in the opening shot of the new trailer, it seems that one of the most physically imposing environmental fixtures in the world of Biomutant will be the Tree of Life. Developer Experiment 101 has already detailed some plot elements of Biomutant, and players will have to save the Tree of Life from the pollutants threatening it in order to save creatures who haven't yet been affected by toxic chemicals. Biomutant's plot has been compared to Paper Mario: The Origami King, but there's still plenty of room for innovation as the player follows the Tree of Life's five major roots to heal the corruption in the land.

Also apparent in the trailer are the numerous different town-like locations that civilized creatures call home. Biomutant creative director Steven Ljungqvist has explained that most of the civilized creatures belong to one of six different tribes who interact with one another in complex ways. A player character's genetic makeup will be subtly affected as they interact with different tribes, and Ljungqvist has said that each tribe "represents a kind of DNA string" players will be able to morph and change. Ljungqvist also compared Biomutant to Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor when describing the game's tribal relationships.

The most exciting part of the new Biomutant trailer might be that everything seen is captured in-game, and it's hard to tell the difference between cutscene footage and gameplay. Fans who have kept up with trailer releases for the game can once again see some of the unique mounts and hybrid machines present in the world, and the stunning orchestral soundtrack just makes everything better. This trailer continues to emphasize the high points of the kind of game fans hope Biomutant will be with barely over a month left until its release.

Biomutant releases on May 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
