Experiment 101 and THQ Nordic's action RPG Biomutant will be officially released on May 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Although some gamers have reported receiving early copies of Biomutant, most players will be able to dive into the post-apocalyptic kung-fu fable sometime tomorrow.

The review embargo for Biomutant lifts later today, and it will be interesting to see the impressions of early players. Throughout its development, the game has been compared to other RPGs like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Devil May Cry, and Experiment 101 has also cited the Ratchet & Clank games and the Batman: Arkham series as influences. One of the many heavily discussed features of the game is Biomutant's character creation system, which allows a player to design the body shape of their anthropomorphic creature by placing points into different skills and choosing a particular mutation.

Biomutant Release and Unlock Times For PC/PS4/Xbox One

Eager players won't have to wait too much longer to play Biomutant. According to publisher THQ Nordic's FAQ page on the game, console versions will all release at the same time tomorrow, and PC players will have a few different options to choose from when downloading the game digitally. Biomutant should already be available for preload on both PS4 and Xbox One, but its official console release time will be May 25 at 4 p.m. CEST/7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET/3 p.m. BST. Although the game is not available right now for Nintendo Switch or Google Stadia, THQ Nordic has not ruled out future releases on these platforms.

For PC players, Biomutant will not be limited to one online store and will be available for pre-order from a variety of sites including Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. As of now, there is no preloading for the PC version, but players can start downloading when Biomutant releases at 7 p.m. CEST/10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET/6 p.m. BST. The game is currently not available on the Microsoft Store, but it does support GeForce NOW and will be available on EA Play Pro.

Xbox Series X|S and PS5 owners will also be able to play Biomutant via backward compatibility, but there are some performance limitations for the Series S and PS5 versions. THQ Nordic has previously stated that due to technical issues, Biomutant won't run at 4K on PS5, while it will be capable of 4K on the Series X. The Series S version of the game will also be limited to a max of 30fps, though it will have a slightly boosted resolution at 1440p. THQ Nordic has ensured gamers that there will be native versions of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in the future, though there are no firm dates for these at the time.

Players concerned about how Biomutant will look on a certain console can check out several gameplay videos THQ Nordic has made available online. The game will reportedly be around 25 GB for PC players and a bit smaller for console players. There is also a rumored day one patch for the game that will be 10.2 GB with bug fixes, and developer Experiment 101 is working on a motion blur toggle for the game to be implemented post-launch.
