Biomutant is finally releasing on May 25 after being first revealed in 2017, and for many, it's been a wait with its developers being rather quiet over the past few years. However, more pieces of information have been disclosed this year, albeit gradually, and Biomutant has made an impression. Having a post-apocalyptic game set in a colorful world where there's lots of vegetation, life, and a high degree of variety makes Biomutant seem rather promising.

Biomutant has lots of characters to meet and seemingly hundreds of enemies to defeat, as there seems to be a huge diversity in encounters thanks to both mutations and different furs or slightly diverging species. There certainly are numerous NPCs to run into, and the trailers so far have already revealed a few. Biomutant also has powerful world leaders, steampunk vehicles, mounts, and areas with their own climate and requirements for players to cross them safely.

Biomutant Length

The story of Biomutant starts with the contamination of the Tree of Life, a colossal tree that is also the object of controversy for all the tribe leaders, as three of the six clans seek to keep it alive, and the other three have the opposite intent. Players are tasked with following the four roots of the Tree of Life and defeat the World Leaders found where they end, but gamers can also let the creatures live after they defeat them, if they so choose. This decision will have consequences in the story, much like if the players choose to attack the tribe leaders or join forces with them.

There seems to be no shortage of cool gadgets, mounts, and vehicles in Biomutant. The steampunk vehicles shown thus far include a biped robot called "Mekton," a mechanical hand capable of walking around and shooting that's called "Mekafingro," a jet ski used on the water called "Googlide," a dirigible of sorts called "Gullblimp,"and more. One of the vehicles is something that can be used underwater, as footage released thus far has shown the player engaging in battle with an aquatic World Leader that looks like a poisonous turtle. Others are used to travel through radioactive areas or polluted locations in Biomutant, while players will have to carry warm clothes for icy temperatures, or biohazard protection for the exploration of the old world.

As for the mounts, it's worth knowing there seem to be many of them which all have their own exclusive perks, like the Batnam-Nam's ability to glide over cliffs, for example, or mounts that are more resistant to cold weather and can therefore take players through such areas. There are not many details about the gadgets included in Biomutant, but there seems to be a pair of mechanical wings that let players glide in the air, a sort of helicopter jetpack, and a backpack that can be used as an improvised levitating rug to fly for short distances.

Biomutant's NPCs and Possible Side Missions

Biomutant's world is one where many NPCs can be met and, despite the lack of information about specific characters, developers THQ Nordic and Experiment 101 have shown footage including some of them. There is an inventor called Whiz Tinkertonker, who is apparently in charge of crafting equipment for Bimutant players, and maybe even send them on special missions to retrieve peculiar components or materials. Another NPC, who players should meet relatively early in the game, is called Out-of-Date, and he's bound on his wheelchair because one of his legs was bitten off by the so-called "Mega-Gnat."

Another interesting addition is an NPC called Moog Munsterhonter, a furry friend wielding an extremely long staff and a quiver on his back, which probably means there will be bow and arrows involved. This character could be one that sends players on bounty hunts to beat Biomutant's dangerous creatures, as the NPC is shown living in a tent and using a map with markers on it. Other NPCs include Honki, likely a merchant, Chu-Chu Chug, a rat-like mutant that is seen caring for a locomotive of sorts, and Sol Slenderstilf, a mysterious cat-like figure who comes out of a suitcase to greet the players.

The world of Biomutant is full of life, and lifeforms and mutants alike change in shape and behavior based on the environment they live in. Hopefully, the game delivers for fans when it releases soon.
