Biomutant is a weird, offbeat little game. Its fascinating main story and thousands of tiny side quests allow players to dive into this unique world developed by Experiment 101. To unlock the true nature of the game, and to discover the backstory bit-by-bit, players should seek out all side quests available on the way.
Of course, this means gameplay will double in length, but the story's true potential lies in the details. Most side quests mean finding one of many hidden locations that help deepen the story and make the world more colorful. Additionally, there are hidden locations that aren't a part of a side quest, but intriguing details of the open world of Biomutant.
10 Mutation Pools
Mutation Pools are seemingly the most basic locations on the map, yet a lot of players miss them and don't even know they exist. These Pools allow anyone to change their appearance after the intro. It sounds elementary, but a lot of players miss this opportunity, or just don't look for it.
These Mutation Pools can be found hidden within the Biohazard areas of the map, directly under the Nuclear Reactors. Funnily enough, creators took their time to hide and guard these areas which only serve as a "wardrobe" of sorts. Players have to find these areas, kill enemies outside of them, pry them open. Finally, voila — the character can change their appearance.
9 Biohazard Suit Location
There are four biohazard suits hidden in the game. Many players don't know about, these and those who do have a difficult time finding them. Although the game will suggest this side quest on multiple occasions, a lot of players go right past the opportunity or don't even notice.
Entering any hazardous biome will trigger a cutscene, featuring a side quest that allows players to find the biohazard suits hidden in the map. But because side quests and various paths in this game are handed out like Halloween candy, players often miss this opportunity.
8 Location Of Blaze Gloves
For those missing an alternative for the Spark Gloves that players start out with, there is hope. It's called Blaze Gloves, and gamers can obtain it through the Boom side quest. This character is not crucial to the story, and a lot of people miss his quest as a result.
However, Boom will give a task to those who notice him. Completing this quest will reward the player with the Blaze Gloves.
7 Banshelter 5D
This location is linked to a rare weapon. Both the hidden location and the weapon itself can be found by completing the side quest of a character named Klick. Klick will do two very crucial and handy things to aid the player in this objective.
One is to give the player the Skeleton Key, which can basically open any door. The second is charging up the player's Klonkfist. With the Skeleton Key, players gained access to Banshelter 5D and can acquire the Scatterskrek Lukspewbor.
6 The "Home" Of Pee-Wee Gargantua
There are a lot of hidden mounts in the game that players can "hunt down" and befriend. One of those relatively rare mounts is the Pee-Wee Gargantua. Its location is linked to yet another side quest that the player receives from a character named Gill. After completing the quest, Gill will ask the Ronin to free the Pee-Wee Gargantua from its captivity.
Following the waypoint, players should stumble across a bandit camp called Brug's Camp. After fighting their way to the animal, players can now interact with the ropes with which the Pee-Wee is held with. They can then befriend the animal, which will prove to be a great asset and companion throughout the game.
5 The Seventh Googlide Wrekbox
Finding and befriending the Pee-Wee Gargantua will likely mean that the Googlide will become obsolete. But for those who like the Googlide, there are ways to keep it viable compared to the Gargantua. To do this, players need to find all Googlide Boxes. These are cases covered in floatation devices, containing new parts for the Googlide. Once a player interacts with one, the side quest to find the others will become accessible.
The seventh and last one, though, is seemingly impossible to obtain. Tt's behind a thick rock wall that the Klonkfist cannot break. Impatient players will have to wait, as the only way around that giant wall is by progressing in the story until they get to the Mjut mount. Thankfully, Mjut can break down walls just fine. This hidden location requires patience, but if a player wants to stick with the Googlide, it's a must.
4 Old World Vaults
After finding the first of the eight Old World vaults, the side quest to unlock all of them will be available for players and will guide them to the next. While it's not exactly hidden via the side quest, many players don't know they have this option. Stumbling into the first one may be a little difficult.
Funnily enough, the creators taunt players by placing the first available vault right next to Bricktown, the player's first location after the tutorial. A boss-like monster guards each vault, but it's worth the fight. Each vault contains extremely rare weapons or parts, and they're perhaps one of the best ways to get closer to the backstory of Biomutant.
3 Sol's Library
In the North of the map is a location called the Kluppy Dunes. (Players will need a lot of fire resistance as this is a desert biome.) Across the large patch of oil, on an island, players will stumble into a side character named Sol, and his library.
To get there, players need to complete a tiny side quest that unlocks the blimp to get to the island. A lot of players give up at this point, as no library is worth all this trouble (sad, but true). However, the reward for completing this tiny quest is completely worth it, as players will get a backpack that allows them to hover in the air!
2 The Riddleroom
The Riddleroom is truthfully the only place in the game that feels like it's actually hidden. Players can find this notorious locations directly to the right of Porky Puffy place, in the far right corner of the map.
To open it, players need to gain access to a nearby island to get to this room. After reaching the Riddleroom, players will have to solve a runestone puzzle. If the thrill of solving a hidden puzzle isn't enough to lure players here, the reward may motivate them. Gaining access to the Riddleroom means players can take the Pri Murgel Sword out of the stone. This is the best weapon in the game, bar none.
1 The First Fight Against Lupa-Lupin
This is an odd location that not only leads to a highly unusual, mount but an early confrontation with Lupa-Lupin — whom players aren't meant to go toe-to-toe with until the very end of the game. Players can access this location right after the tutorial. It's right above Whereabouts.
Wandering around that location, players will stumble into the Putignoat in a field. A cutscene interrupts, showing Lupin, the final boss of the game, hunting down the animal. Players have to defend the poor Gnoat. Most players miss both the odd quest and the unusual mount, but going through with it is a great experience that allows players to dive straight into the unusual nature of this game.
