Described as an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, it's safe to say that Biomutant is easily one of the wackiest video games set to release in the next few years. Aiming to hit consoles and PC in the near future, not much is known about the game outside of its off the wall concept, with many wanting to see more of what THQ Nordic's newest venture has to offer.

Luckily, the minds behind Biomutant have recently obliged these requests, with THQ Nordic revealing a lengthy gameplay trailer that details just how varied and brilliantly bizarre this brand new RPG is. Clocking in at just under 10 minutes, the trailer is chock full of colorful landscapes, colossal monsters, eccentric characters, and a whole heap of crazy game mechanics.

The first thing that becomes apparent from the footage is just how breathtaking the world of Biomutant is, with luscious green fields, prominent rainbows, and sprawling tree roots covering the landscape. It's clear the team behind the game, Experiment 101, spent a lot of time creating a world that defies conventions, through its crazy mix of vibrant nature and sprawling fantasy landscapes. The characters that dwell within this world are also suitably strange, with the trailer showcasing animal warriors, giant monsters, and a variety of otherworldly creatures.

However, perhaps most crucially, the trailer takes a lot of time to show just how diverse players' experiences within this sprawling game world will be. From traditional combat and extensive platforming sections to underwater showdowns and face-offs with colossal beasts, this is evidently going to be a huge game with lots to do. It also looks as though the player will have a lot of different playstyles to chose from, with the trailer highlighting several different special abilities and weapon combinations that result in vastly different approaches to any given situation. For example, one section of the trailer shows a character using what appears to be this universe's take on a jetpack, hovering from afar and picking off enemies before landing to engage them head-on.

Interestingly, the trailer concludes without a firm release dating, telling fans that the game will come "when we are happy with it." Its supposedly targeting the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so it seems wise to imagine that the game isn't too far off completion. Regardless, it's fantastic to finally see a significant slice of Biomutant and begin to understand what Experiment 101's crazy RPG is all about.

Biomutant is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
