Ubisoft has been working on Beyond Good and Evil 2 for nearly ten years, but there aren't any public signs that it's anywhere close to being complete. However, a Ubisoft job listing mentions the title in the same vein as other released games, potentially implying that the prequel is nearly done.

Mentioned on the official Ubisoft website, a job listing for a Unity Programmer says that Ubisoft Paris is the "proud maker" of games such as "Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Just Dance 2021, Watch_Dogs Legion or Beyond Good and Evil 2." This is far from confirmation that there's been any major progress made on Beyond Good and Evil 2, but its place on a list full of finished games certainly seems a little odd.

It seems to stand out as there are plenty of other games that the studio has worked on that could be mentioned in the listing, but Beyond Good and Evil 2 has essentially gone radio silent for several months without any major update or scheduled release window. Ubisoft has teased the title at seemingly random intervals over its long development cycle, to the point where many fans are beginning to lose hope that the game will ever actually come out.

Some fans were hopeful that Beyond Good and Evil 2 would make an appearance during Ubisoft's showcase at E3 2021, however, the showcase came and went without a single mention of the project. Although the mention of it in the job listing seems to imply that it's either nearly finished or getting close, the general lack of public announcements for the game, especially during major gaming events, doesn't indicate that a release is coming anytime soon.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 isn't Ubisoft's only "white whale" as the studio's upcoming pirate game, Skull and Bones has also seen a lot of development issues over the past several years. The pirate title recently restarted its development which likely puts Beyond Good and Evil 2 before it in line in terms of Ubisoft's upcoming releases. That said, the complete lack of information surrounding Beyond Good and Evil 2 still doesn't instill much faith in fans that it's coming in the coming months.

The simple fact that Ubisoft is still hiring developers for Beyond Good and Evil 2 seems to indicate that, despite its mention alongside games that have been completed in the listing mentioned above, it's still being worked on. Hopefully, more information about the title surfaces soon.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in development.
