Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines reveals that he has played Wolfenstein developer MachineGames’ next game, saying that he ‘can’t wait’ to show it off.

MachineGames knocked it out of the park when its first-person shooter, Wolfenstein: The New Order was released in 2014 – followed by the standalone expansion The Old Blood that same year. The developer was massively praised for its efforts in rebooting the iconic shooting franchise, with people having positive things to say about the games’ combat, narrative, characters and its voice acting. Understandably then, many fans have been eager to see what the developer is working on next.

Although it’s still unclear what MachineGames is now working on, it’s sure to be great. That’s according to Pete Hines, the marketing executive at Bethesda (the publisher of Wolfenstein). Speaking during the latest Kinda Funny Gamescast, Hines revealed that “MachineGames has been hard at work on something.” The executive confirmed that he has played the game,  saying that it’s “f—ing bananas” and he “can’t wait to show what it actually is.”

Hines didn’t hint at what MachineGames’ next title might be called or even what it might be like, but there’s a lot of evidence that the developer is working on a Wolfenstein follow up. Just over a year ago, a Wolfenstein: The New Order sequel was accidentally confirmed by the voice actor who voiced a character in the first game. And, just four months ago, the voice behind the first game’s protagonist teased a Wolfenstein sequel too.

There was also a hint at last year’s E3, as a game called Wolfenstein: The New Colossus was teased during Bethesda’s press conference. Unfortunately, the publisher didn’t outright say that a sequel was coming and that it would indeed be called The New Colossus, but it’s a little hard to deny a game exists when it’s teased at one of the biggest games industry conventions in the world.

Assuming that Wolfenstein: The New Colossus – or some otherwise titled sequel – is in the works, it’s unclear when it will be officially announced. During the interview with Kinda Funny, Hines was asked about a reveal at E3 2017 to which he responded with “I’ll let you know when.” Bethesda has only held an E3 press conference twice (in 2016 and 2015) though it has dazzled and impressed fans on both occasions. If the company wants to go three for three and give fans another reason to praise it press conference then officially announcing Wolfenstein: The New Colossus at E3 2017 would be the way to do it.
