The modding community has done a wonderful job of supporting Bethesda’s game library for years, extending the life of each RPG in the company’s catalog exponentially, sometimes even beyond a decade. While Bethesda has recognized the work of modders in the past, it’s not often that fans hear about a modder being hired. However, one talented individual from the Fallout: London team managed to bag a job with the company.

According to a tweet containing an announcement from the Fallout: London Discord server, the mod’s head writer, Stephanie Zachariadis, has been hired to work with Bethesda. It isn’t clear which project Zachariadis will be working on, and there are tons of Bethesda games in the works right now, so there are plenty of potential possibilities.

Zachariadis’ experience extends beyond just the Fallout: London mod project, too. The writer has also contributed to another mod project, Fallout Miami, according to her LinkedIn account. Additionally, she’s won several awards for screenplay writing, so Zachariadis certainly isn’t lacking experience in the games industry or film. That should translate nicely to Bethesda’s bigger projects, which are typically filled to the brim with quests, locations, and lore.

Of course, the change might be concerning to those that have followed Fallout: London’s development, though the team is confident that it won’t affect the quality of the end product. Zachariadis’ contributions have been finalized for the mod, and the main story has already been written and “is concrete.” That means that, narratively, little will change for the overall project, though the Fallout: London team has begun its search for a new head writer.

A number of distinct mod projects have emerged over the past few years, as gamers hunger for more content from Bethesda. The developer has announced The Elder Scrolls 6, but it’s presumably still years away, which has helped fuel the impact of mods like Skyblivion, a mod that seeks to recreate Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine. There’s been no word on a new Fallout game, which has created a similar space for mods like Fallout London.

With Zachariadis’ pedigree as a writer, it’s no wonder she was picked up by Bethesda. While it might be some time before fans get to see her credits appear on a project, hopefully, her experience working on projects like Fallout London shines through while players are exploring the world. At the very least, playing through Fallout London may now give fans a better idea of what to expect from certain Bethesda games.
