Bethesda is an incredibly large studio, and as such, there is always something going on. November 2022 is a noteworthy month for the studio in both good ways and bad ways. It is a month for celebration, as it marks the eleventh anniversary of Skyrim's release. It is a game that left an indelible mark on the gaming scene, and it will remain a crowning achievement for the studio for years to come. Thanks to the success of Skyrim, gamers are eager to play The Elder Scrolls 6.

It is also a sad month because it is the month Starfield was originally supposed to release before it was pushed to 2023. Although some gamers have begun to worry that the game is in development hell, Bethesda has released trailers letting fans know that progress is being made. Between Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6, and the next Fallout game, there is plenty to look forward to for Bethesda fans.

Skyrim Turns Eleven Years Old

Eleven years ago, Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, sending players on a quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater. Things are far from straightforward, however, and players can spend hundreds of hours exploring the open-world, doing side quests, or simply setting up their own missions. Due to its intricate open-world design and addictive combat, Skyrim has become a staple of gaming. Bethesda has continued to support the game for over a decade, and generation after generation, the game has been re-released, with the last major re-rerelease being The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition.

The game has also managed to have such a long lifespan thanks to a community of modders. With a steady stream of creative content from the community always coming out, gamers always find new ways to enjoy an old game. As Skyrim turns eleven, it is certainly a cause for celebration at Bethesda, as it is a significant anniversary for one of the most iconic open-world games of all time. The studio does intend to follow up the legendary title with The Elder Scrolls 6, which it has confirmed is in production.

Starfield's Missed Launch Window

For a long time, Bethesda Game Studios has thrived off the success of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. However, it is daring to try something novel with Starfield, which will be its first new IP in over two decades. As the title might suggest, it is a sci-fi game that takes players to the far reaches of the universe. Following the terrible Colony War between two factions known as the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective, humanity's nook of the Milky Way known as The Settled Systems has found relative peace. Players will have the freedom to decide which factions to join, which planets to explore, and which direction to take their story.

Gamers were originally promised a launch date of November 11, 2022. This was a noteworthy date, as it would have coincided with Skyrim's eleventh anniversary. Unfortunately, Starfield has since been delayed, and gamers can expect the space game in the first half of 2023. This is disappointing, as the game has been hotly anticipated since its initial reveal at 2018's reveal at E3. It seems gamers will have to wait just a tad longer to explore the many philosophical questions that Starfield promises to pose.

Under Microsoft's umbrella, Bethesda's productivity hasn't slowed down one bit. According to Todd Howard, after Starfield, gamers can expect The Elder Scrolls 6. Following this, Fallout 5 will be delivered, although it may take many more years. As is the case with Starfield, it is like the latter two titles will also be Xbox console exclusives.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is in development.
