Bethesda confirms the date of its E3 2017 press conference, leading fans to immediately speculate whether a new Wolfenstein, Elder Scrolls, and more will be announced.

Bethesda may have only hosted two E3 press conferences, but many will agree that the games publisher has knocked it out of the park both times. Back in 2015 for example, there was huge celebration when the company announced highly rumored post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 4, and in 2016 the company again delivered on huge speculation when it confirmed that Arkane Studios is developing a Prey reboot. So, can Bethesda make it three great E3 press conferences in a row?

Fans of the publisher won't have much longer to wait for an answer to that question, as Bethesda has now confirmed the date of its E3 2017 press conference. In a tweet the company confirmed that its press conference will take place on Sunday, June 11, though it didn't offer up a time for the showcase other than "pm." Bethesda even joked that the Sunday before E3 is "getting busy" and that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," giving reference to the earlier reveal that Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference will be taking place on the same day.

Unfortunately, Bethesda's tweet didn't hint at what its press conference might feature. Though, there are some obvious guesses such as a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order. Bethesda actually teased a sequel to the game, called Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, at last year's E3 but the company has yet to confirm the game officially. Since that teaser, The New Order voice actors have suggested that a new game is in the works, and as recently as the last few weeks, a Bethesda executive said that he can't wait to show off (Wolfenstein developer) MachineGames' new game.

Other possibilities include a new expansion for MMO The Elder Scrolls Online, following on from the game's Morrowind DLC, and post-launch support for Prey, following the main game's release in May. These are surely safe bets of what to expect from the press conference.

What can almost certainly be ruled out though, is the reveal of The Elder Scrolls 6. The Elder Scrolls 6 is not a "big active project" yet, meaning that it's highly unlikely that the development team has something that it is willing to show right now. That will be hugely disappointing to those hoping that a new entry in the fantasy RPG series would be revealed soon, but fans won't want the development team to rush progress on the game just to have something to show for it.

Bethesda's press conference at E3 2017 is scheduled for Sunday, June 11, 2017.
