Xbox Game Pass will soon be adding a brand-new, day one horror game to its lineup in the form of Signalis, and while it's not available just yet, it's already earned mostly positive reviews from critics. Xbox Game Pass subscribers have one more day that they can look forward to when it comes to new game releases for October 2022, with three games set to be added to the subscription service on Thursday, October 27.

The three games coming to Xbox Game Pass on October 27 are Frog Detective: The Entire Mystery (PC Game Pass only), Gunfire Reborn (coming to the cloud, consoles, and PC), and the aforementioned Signalis (also coming to the cloud, consoles, and PC). All three games will be available to Game Pass subscribers soon, and while they are all certainly worth checking out, those looking for a horror game to play this Halloween will want to pay special attention to Signalis.

Signalis is releasing for a variety of platforms on October 27, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play the game without paying anything beyond their usual subscription fee. Signalis is a sci-fi horror game where players take on the role of a Replika named Elster who is tasked with exploring a mysterious government facility in search of her lost partner as well as her lost dreams, according to the game's official description.

Critics have praised Signalis as one of the best horror games to release in 2022, earning it a solid 80 overall critic rating at the time of this writing. Particular praise has been given to Signalis' unique art style, its classic survival-horror style gameplay, its engrossing story, and its clever puzzles. Needless to say, anyone that considers themselves a fan of old-school survival-horror games should certainly make sure that Signalis is on their radar, especially if they have an Xbox Game Pass subscription handy.

Signalis isn't the only new horror game that is joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup in October 2022. Earlier this month, body horror game Scorn was added to Xbox Game Pass, though it earned decidedly mixed reviews compared to Signalis. A Plague Tale: Requiem was also added to the Game Pass lineup and, while not strictly a horror game, it may still appeal to horror fans thanks to its disturbing sights, like massive waves of rats consuming everything in their path.

Older horror games have also been added to Xbox Game Pass just in time for Halloween. Titles from Frictional Games are readily available for Game Pass subscribers to try now, including the Amnesia Collection and sci-fi horror game Soma. Between Signalis and the horror games that were already added to Xbox Game Pass earlier this month, subscribers should have no shortage of games to play this Halloween.
