2018 has been a strong year for gaming, as some seriously great games across the spectrum have been released. Of course, each of these came with a trailer, and the most watched list for 2018 has finally been revealed. Before moving forward, it's worth mentioning that these stats do not include trailers viewed via alternative channels. For example, if a trailer was watched through a non-official YouTube channel, it was not tracked.

It's also worth mentioning that these numbers come from a limited time frame, but the game that took first place should not be a surprise, really. While 2018 saw the releases of some great games, it was also definitively the year of Fortnite. This battle royale title peaked at the end of season four thanks to the in-game event, so the season 5 announcement trailer was the most watched video game trailer of 2018, with a grand total of 48.6 million views.

1. Fortnite Season 5 Announcement Trailer

To highlight how hot this Fortnite trailer was, the second place runner-up received 13 million less, totaling in at 33.8 million views. This also followed an impressive build-up prior to an E3 2018 official reveal, but the second most watched trailer was for Fallout 76.

2. Fallout 76 Official E3 Trailer

Third place belongs to Rockstar's latest western franchise, Red Dead Redemption 2, which should not surprise anyone. After all, it was #1 on the PS4's most downloaded games of 2018 list, and the trailer for it received 27.9 million views.

3. Red Dead Redemption 2: Official Trailer #3

Surprisingly enough, slots 4 and 5 belong to a couple of mobile games. But with the growing trend of the mobile market, this should perhaps not be so surprising. The remainder of this list also includes yet another Rockstar product, but the remainder and the associated views follow.

4. Clash of Clans: Hammer Jam trailer (22.3 million views)

5. Clash Royale: Clan Wars (20.3 million views)

6.  DOOM EternalE3 teaser (13.4 million views)

7.  Minecraft aquatic update trailer (12.4 million views)

8.  League of Legends: Just One More trailer (12.2 million views)

9.  GTA Online: After Hours trailer (10.6 million views)

10. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout announcement trailer (6.4 million views)

At the end of the day, looking back over the gaming industry in 2018 is a lot of fun, especially when it comes to statistics like this list. We here at Game Rant have also composed a list of the 10 most disappointing games of 2018, so for those already feeling nostalgic, we recommend checking it out.
