Although The Last Of Us Part 2 garnered mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, The Last Of Us Part 1 remains a classic. Naughty Dog revealed that a remastered version of the timeless first game will be released on PS5 on September 2, 2022.

Fans of the franchise have debated as to if a remastered version is necessary, considering the original game had already been graphically updated for the PS4. That said, leaked screenshots of the remastered version show immense graphical updates, with updated character models and heightened realism to add to the immersive experience.

9 Scorn

8 Dead Space Remake

Players are in for a gory, graphically enhanced treat with this one, as the developers intend to enrich the audio, visuals, and gameplay of the original game.

Woodland Games created Autopsy Simulator in collaboration with forensic doctors to bring players a frighteningly accurate and slightly educational gameplay experience. Autopsy Simulator's teaser trailer starts off presenting the game as it was intended to be: an accurate, graphically enhanced autopsy simulator. By the end of the minute-long teaser, it's clear that the protagonist is dealing with something more than just corpses.

6 Layers Of Fears

Following its predecessors, Layers Of Fear and Layers Of Fear 2, Layers Of Fears describes itself as a "psychedelic horror chronicle." Those familiar with the previous two installments know exactly what they're in for with Layers Of Fears; a slow descent into madness and obsession, and artists whose connection with their craft reaches beyond the physical plane.

5 The Outlast Trials

Red Barrels is back at it again with another gory, disturbing installment in the Outlast franchise. The Outlast Trials will be the team's first dive into multiplayer-centric horror, but by the looks of the teaser trailer—they've already nailed it.

Up to four players will be captured and subjected to various forms of psychological and physical torture at the hands of the psychotic Murkoff Corporation. In order to survive, the player and their friends must survive and overcome these experiments before they begin to crack.

4 The Callisto Protocol

Prepare for blood this holiday season, because the highly anticipated successor to Dead Space will be released on December 2, 2022. The Callisto Protocol stays faithful to its predecessor in various aspects, keeping its tense atmosphere, futuristic weaponry, and grotesque humanoid monsters.

The sharp graphics are certainly one of the shining highlights of the sure-to-be-gory Callisto Protocol. Those who aren't big fans of gore should sit this one out because this game went all-out with its gory kills and bloody carnage.

3 PARANOID

2 Slitterhead

Calling all fans of body horror—this is the game to get excited about. Slitterhead is an action-oriented take on the concept of body horror. Grotesque creatures disguise themselves as humans, fooling those around them enough to get close and reveal their twisted, gory transformations. Slitterhead feels very much like it came from a Junji Ito manga.

Players will take on these monstrous creatures, attempting to flush out these grotesque shape-shifters from life as we know it. Not much is officially known about Slitterhead, but its trailer alone has body horror fans all over the world excited about its eventual release.

1 Resident Evil 4 Remake

It's an understatement to say that Capcom has been on fire with the last few installments of the Resident Evil franchise. Remakes, especially, have been something the developers have not failed on, with the remakes of Resident Evil 2 & 3 landing on their feet with both critical and commercial success.

Resident Evil 4 has fans old and new eagerly awaiting the spring of 2023. Capcom hopes to reinvent and polish the gameplay of the original, as well as many of its iconic moments. If their success with the previous two remakes is anything to go off of, it's safe to say full justice will be done to the remake of Resident Evil 4.
