Any person familiar with anime or manga has a basic idea of what a tsundere is. It's the character that's always a little cold or a little mean on the outside, but on the inside, they are actually sweet and caring individuals. Generally, tsundere characters are girls, but anyone can be a tsundere no matter their gender. Over time what makes a character a tsundere has changed and with that change different types of tsundere were made.

Type A is the original tsundere, which is a person who is really mean on the outside, and only shows a nicer side when something special triggers it. Then there's the less mean Type B tsundere who is usually kind and generous but has a violent side. Type A's are more common than Type B tsundere, at least when it comes to spotting them in video games.

8 Mythra - Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Mythra is one of the main female protagonists in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 who is the Legendary Blade Aegis. Mythra is very different from her other personality, Pyra, who is soft-spoken, kind-hearted, and mild-mannered. In comparison, Mythra is prideful and reckless. She's also rude and isn't shy about expressing her thoughts, even if they aren't the nicest of thoughts.

In the stand-alone game Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna -The Golden Country, Mythra was less sympathetic than she would come to be in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Despite her flaws, Mythra is self-sacrificing deep down as she considers herself a danger and desires to go to Elysium to guarantee that she will never cause harm to anyone again.

7 Silver - Pokemon Gold And Silver

The player character's rival, Silver, from Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver, becomes a surprise tsundere as the game progresses. At first, Silver just seems like a jerk, to both the player and his own Pokemon.

He hits and pushes the player character, the only rival to date that has purposely attacked the player character. Towards the end of the game, he becomes a slightly better person and treats his Pokemon kindly, and isn't as hostile to the player character.

6 Viridi - Kid Icarus: Uprising

Viridi is a major character in Kid Icarus Uprising. As the goddess of nature, she has an intense hatred for humans as she feels that they take advantage of and throw off the balance of nature. Viridi both looks and acts like a child for the most part and is argumentive with a very short temper.

She's mean to Pit and insults him every time he talks and often sends the Forces of Nature to attack him. But as time goes on she comes to care about Pit's well-being and becomes a proper ally to him.

5 Felix - Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Felix was introduced to the Fire Emblem series in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. He's a student at the Officers Academy and a member of the Blue Lions along with Dimitri. At first, Felix can seem hard to approach as he's extremely devoted to his swordsmanship. So devoted that he pays little attention to anything else, which makes him come off as unsympathetic and cold.

Despite all of this, deep down Felix loves his friends deeply and cares about their lives and the lives of his allies. He somewhat admits to it in his A support dialogue with Ingrid when she correctly guesses that he fights to be the strongest so that he can protect the people he cares about.

4 Big Sister Villagers - Animal Crossing

The Animal Crossing series has over 400 villagers. These villagers can be broken up by species and personality types, of which there are 8. For players looking for female tsundere villagers for their island, villagers with the Big Sister personality are the best option. Big Sister or "Sisterly" villagers initially come off as rude and stubborn. They enjoy fighting and other "tough" activities that would make some people consider them "tomboyish".

But as the player befriends them, Big Sister villagers will show that they are very empathetic and kind. They'll ask the player about their well-being and even give the player medicine, or the DIY for medicine when the player comes to them after being stung by wasps or bees. Some of the most notable Big Sister villagers are Cherry, Muffy, Flo, Phoebe, and Reneigh who is one of the new villagers that debuted in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

3 Smug Villagers - Animal Crossing

One would think that if Big Sister villagers are female tsundere, then their male counterparts, Cranky villagers would also be tsundere. However, the best example of male tsundere villagers are those with the Smug personality type. Smug villagers can be described as being boastful, arrogant, and even egotistical when players first encounter them.

But as a player befriends them it's revealed that Smug villagers are very kind-hearted and that they have very gentlemanly attitudes. Smug villagers debuted in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and they were known to flirt with the player once their friendship with them was high enough. Some of the most notable Smug villagers are Marshal, Julian, Pietro, and Raymond who debuted in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

2 Tatl - The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Tatl is Link's fairy companion in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. At first, she was a bit of an antagonist to Link as she and her brother sided with Skull Kid. She gets separated from her brother, and she blames Link for what happened but still works alongside him so that she could find her brother again.

Tatl is very blunt and hostile towards Link at the beginning of their partnership but as the game progresses she becomes more tolerant of him and apologetic for how she and her brother treated him. She cares about her brother deeply as her only reason for becoming Link's partner was to reunite with Tael, and she becomes very angry at Skull Kid when he smacks Tael.

1 Midna - The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the most beloved games in the franchise. Its visuals, story, and gameplay are a few reasons why it's a fan favorite. Another reason why some Zelda fans love Twilight Princess is because of Midna. Midna is a character first introduced in the game, who is among the Twili people, a race of beings that live in the Twilight Realm.

Appearing as an imp-like creature, she helps Link escape from the Hyrule Castle Sewers after he is transformed into Wolf Link. At first, Midna only seems to care about her own goals and agenda and uses Link to get what she wants. But as time goes on, she's shown to care about people other than herself, including Link.
