The land of Skyrim is unlike any seen before in The Elder Scrolls series. It seems cold and desolate, yet Skyrim is full of numerous things for players to do. They may explore ancient tombs, join prominent factions, slay dragons, or simply cook a pleasant meal. You heard correctly; the Last Dragonborn of legend can occupy their time making delicious food.
Players can cook nearly anything from clam chowder to mammoth steak. Despite being merely pixels on a screen, many of Skyrim's dishes have invoked hunger in many players. Fortunately, creative and culinary adept fans have provided the means to recreate these dishes in real life. While some may not accurately transpose from the game, these recipes grant players near-perfect renditions.

Fans are in luck, as there is even an official Elder Scrolls Cookbook dedicated to all the beloved rustic recipes, from Vegetable Soup to the iconic Sweetroll. This list has been updated with three more additional delicious entries, complete with a full set of ingredients, straight from the fantasy world of Skyrim to the kitchen.
12 Garlic Bread
Ingredients:
- 16oz Italian loaf bread
- 1/2 cup of salted butter (softened)
- 3 cloves of garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
Bread is a hearty addition to any meal or soup, but what about the superior Garlic Bread? Added in the Hearthfire DLC, Garlic Bread is a welcome sight on any dinner table. It's a simple recipe, and in Skyrim, eating one Garlic Bread can cure all diseases while still being tasty and fulfilling.
11 Elsweyr Fondue
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of ale (flat)
- brown sugar
- 100 g of Gruyere cheese (grated)
- 100 g of Emmental cheese (grated)
- 100 g of soft blue cheese (grated)
One of Skyrim's most delectable dishes is Elswyer Fondue. Its name may be derived from the land it comes from or the inclusion of Moon Sugar in its recipe. Regardless of its origin, it is undoubtedly a fine and cheesy meal best enjoyed with a hearty loaf of bread. While the recipe in Skyrim calls for two non-existent ingredients, there are suitable substitutions for the real-life recipe.
10 Vegetable Soup
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp vegetable stock
- 5 large tomatoes (finely chopped)
- 1 tin of tomato paste
- 1 liter water
- olive oil
- 2 leeks (diced)
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 red onion (diced)
- salt & pepper
- 4 medium potatoes (boiled, peeled, & diced)
- 1/2 small cabbage (chopped)
- mixed herbs (dry or fresh)
While most of Skyrim's people prefer meat, Vegetable Soup is a beloved alternative, perfect for the cold winter months. Not only is it healthy and revitalizing but filling as well, making it a meal on its own. It also makes a wonderful accompaniment to nearly any other dish.
9 Horker & Ash Yam Stew
Ingredients:
- 1 brown onion (finely chopped)
- 5 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
- 280g Seiten or another meat substitute (chopped into large cubes)
- 1 liter vegetable stock
- 2 tsp paprika powder
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp curry powder
- salt & pepper
- mixed dry herbs
- 1 1/2 large purple yams (peeled & chopped into large cubes)
- 1 potato (peeled & cubbed)
- 100 ml coconut cream
- 1 large leek (sliced)
- 1 large carrot (peeled & sliced)
Not far away from Skyrim lies the ashen land of Solstheim and its prized dish Horker and Ash Yam Stew. It may sound unappealing to foreigners, but the people of Solstheim consider it a delicacy. Using the meat of Horkers and Solstheim's signature Ash Yams, a delicious stew can be made. While these ingredients may not exist, there are more appealing substitutions for its real-life recipe.
8 Potage Le Magnifique
Ingredients:
- 100 g of butter
- 1 large leek (chopped)
- 2 red onions (chopped)
- 5 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup of white wine
- 1 large potato (peeled & cubbed)
- 3 carrots (peeled & chopped)
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup of plain flour
- 1 tbsp mixed dried herbs
- 1 bay leaf
- salt & pepper
The most renowned chef in Tamriel is Balagog gro-Nolob or better known as The Gourmet. He is a masterful chef and cookbook author that has made many dishes most notably the Potage le Magnifique. While players can only make it during the Dark Brotherhood quest "To Kill An Emperor," the recipe is well-known among players. The dish in Skyrim is fit for an emperor but its real-life recipe is much better.
7 Salmon Steak
Ingredients:
- 2 thick salmon fillets (deboned, with skin)
- sea salt
- olive oil
- pepper
- 1 tbsp teriyaki sauce
- 3 cloves of garlic (finely minced)
- fresh dill stalks
- 3 tbsp sour cream
Skyrim has a great range of fish for players to catch, but by far the most delicious is the salmon. Using this common anadromous fish, the people of Skyrim cook delicious Salmon Steak. While it is a simple dish, Salmon Steak is among the delicious meals available in the province. The Salmon Steak in Skyrim is incredibly simple, yet this real-life recipe pushes it to perfection.
6 Honey Nut Treat
Ingredients:
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1 cup sliced almonds
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
- pinch of salt
- pinch of ground cinnamon
Skyrim is full of wonderful sweets and desserts to try, with the Honey Nut Treat being a sweet treat enjoyed by all of Tamriel's residents. Mostly made up of nuts and oats, it is quite easy to make with no baking required, just blending in a food processor. Any of the nuts can be substituted for alternatives.
5 Boiled Creme Treat
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/4 cups of warm milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of ground cardamom
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten with milk for the glaze
- custard (for the filling)
Although not nearly as iconic as the Sweetroll, the Boiled Creme Treat comes a close second. They are a signature staple in the expansive world of Skeasybeing sold by most vendors and found in most homes. It is a dessert puff pastry with a hint of spice, with a creamy custard filling in the center.
4 Apple Pie
Ingredients:
- 250 g plain flour
- 25 g caster sugar
- pinch of salt
- 125 g butter (very cold & diced)
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2-3 tbsp milk
- 315 g apples (peeled & diced)
- 1 stalk rhubarb (diced)
- 45 g soft brown sugar
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- 45 g butter (softened)
- 1 shot spiced rum
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/4 cup pecans (chopped)
- 1 egg white (beaten)
There are many desserts within Skyrim, yet none compare to the classic Apple Pie. It is a comforting dessert fitting for the end of a meal or when craving something sweet. While it is nothing remarkable, it requires a lot to bake in both Skyrim and its real-life recipe, requiring plenty of ingredients.
3 Jazbay Crostata
Ingredients:
- 250 g flour
- 124 g butter (very cold & diced)
- 25 g caster sugar
- pinch of salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp heavy cream
- 3 tbsp sugar
- butter (for brushing)
The most versatile desserts in Skyrim are Crostatas. They are pastries similar to pies that can hold a variety of fillings. Regardless of the filling, Crostatas are undoubtedly one of the most delectable desserts in Skyrim. While Crostatas in Skyrim use non-existent ingredients, the real-life recipe uses Jazbay Grape's real-world counterpart, grapes.
2 Apple Dumpling
Ingredients:
- 1 packet puff pastry sheets
- 6 large apples (peeled & diced)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
A simple yet delicious snack found throughout Skyrim is Apple Dumplings. These sweets are like bite-sized Apple Pies often enjoyed in homes. While they are hardly enough for an end-of-meal dessert, Apple Dumplings serve as an excellent treat. They are simple to make in Skyrim and nearly as easy to bake using its real-world recipe.
1 Sweetroll
Ingredients:
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1 cup maple syrup or honey
- 3 eggs (beaten)
- 1 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 2 vanilla pods (scraped)
- 3 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 cup icing sugar
The most iconic yet simplest dessert in all of Skyrim is the Sweetroll. This treat earns its fame from a dialogue line said constantly by Skyrim's guards expressing their annoyance. Time and time again, players have heard the famous line, "Let me guess...someone stole your Sweetroll?". While this line is said sarcastically, it is not surprising to think someone would steal this delectable dessert. In Skyrim, it is easy to make; however, the real-life recipe is a bit more demanding.
