The release of the PlayStation 4 saw a new era of prosperity for Sony and 'the players'. With bucket loads of exclusives and new titles, it isn't surprising that the excitement for Sony's State of Play was at an all-time high. In light of the conference, twitter user Matt Piscatella shared the lists of PlayStation 4's best-selling games and the best-selling exclusives.
The lists below are sourced from the NPD, the data has been collected from the PlayStation 4's launch until the end of August. Immediately some games that shook the gaming community come to mind with a list like this. Titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Marvel's Spider-Man and God of War have been inescapable. Not only were they great games, but they were also huge financial successes. However, there are some surprises and interesting deductions to be made from the list.

While Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were prime candidates for the top spots of this list some may be surprised of the inclusion of four Call of Duty games and Battlefield 1. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare didn't particularly strike a chord with fans because of its deviation from players expectations of the series but due to the popularity of the franchise the sales of the game held strong. Battlefield 1, on the other hand, was a triumph for the franchise, so much so EA has struggled to replicate the success of the game in later titles. There are only two PlayStation exclusives on this list yet some of the more memorable titles do appear in the top 10 exclusive sales.

The MLB series has clearly been a solid investment for Sony, filling up the final three positions with its annual release. While only the top two of the exclusive list made it on the broader best-selling games list for the console, games like Uncharted 4, Bloodborne and God of War have been huge critical hits. The positive reception has reinforced PlayStation 4's marketing that it is for 'the players' and they're exclusivity will have surely swayed some consumers on buying the console and ensured its remained one of the best selling consoles throughout its shelf-life.
