Exciting things are coming to the Resident Evil franchise this year, with the biggest being the release of Resident Evil Village in a few weeks. In anticipation of the next chapter in the popular survival horror series, Microsoft is hosting a Resident Evil franchise sale that offers up to 70% off. The sale is currently live now at the Xbox Store and will last throughout the week.

Headlining Microsoft's Resident Evil franchise sale is Resident Evil 3 Remake, which was released by Capcom last year. Players can pick up Resident Evil 3 Remake for $19.79, which is a whopping 67% off its original price of $59.99. For the uninitiated, Resident Evil 3 Remake reimagines the classic 1999 game that centers around series veteran Jill Valentine as she attempts to escape the zombie-filled Raccoon City while fleeing from the pursuit of Nemesis.

Additionally, players who purchase Resident Evil 3 Remake will also gain access to Resident Evil: Resistance, a 4v1 multiplayer game based on the universe of Resident Evil. In the game, players can choose to take the role of either a Survivor, who must make it through every level with other players, or as a Mastermind, who must use an arsenal of bioweapons and environmental hazards to kill off Survivors.

For players who want the full Raccoon City experience, two other games are available at a discount at the Xbox Store right now. First is 2019's Resident Evil 2 Remake, which is available for $15.99 or 60% off its current price of $39.99. Resident Evil 2 Remake takes place in the middle of Resident Evil 3's story and chronicles Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield's escape from Raccoon City. Lastly, the remake of the first Resident Evil game is also available for $4.99, following Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as they stumble upon the Spencer Mansion and the horrors residing within.

It is no secret that Resident Evil Village's story is tightly intertwined with its predecessor, Resident Evil 7. For players who still haven't tried out Resident Evil 7, the game is also available for $9.99 or 50% off its current price of $19.99. Resident Evil 7 takes place a few years before Resident Evil Village and tells the story of Ethan Winters, who is on a mission to locate and rescue his missing wife, Mia. Upon arriving at what appears to be an abandoned farmhouse, Ethan meets his wife's captors.

Lastly, Capcom revealed several days ago that it is releasing Resident Evil 4 as a VR game on the Oculus Quest 2. However, for players who do not own the Oculus Rift, the Xbox Store is offering Resident Evil 4 for $7.99 or 60% off its original price of $7.99. For the uninitiated, Resident Evil 4 explores the events after the fall of the Umbrella Corporation and follows Raccoon City veteran Leon Kennedy as he heads into a rural town in search of the president's kidnapped daughter.

It remains unclear whether the VR version of Resident Evil 4 is the remake that has been long rumored in the gaming community. Although details remain thin, early gameplay footage shows that some changes have been made, including support for first-person virtual reality via the Facebook headset. Nonetheless, players can expect adjustments to be made for VR. As far as a full remake is concerned, insiders believe that the project does exist but has been delayed significantly. Luckily for fans, Capcom will share more details at Oculus's online event via Facebook on April 21 at 3 PM PT to share more details about Resident Evil.
