Although the majority of PSVR 2 games support both seated and standing positions, the latter may not always be an option for some players. This could be because the area in which they're playing is too small or the result of a rather severe case of motion sickness. Whatever the reason, Sony's latest virtual reality headset has those players covered, with the hardware boasting plenty of great games that can be enjoyed while sitting down.

A lot of these games simply support seated play, but there are some that end up being considerably better once players decide to take a load off and pop a squat. The best PSVR 2 games to play while sitting down often don't require that much movement or place players in some kind of vehicle that does most of the heavy lifting. For those who can't stand the alternative, these games are well worth checking out.

Although a more traditional gaming chair may prove to be the more comfortable option, those who plan on playing the PSVR 2 from a sitting position may want to invest in a cheap drum stool. This not only provides space for players to move their arms at their sides and reach freely over their shoulders but also allows them to spin around effortlessly on the spot. A swiveling barstool can also work well in this regard.

  • Is Kayak VR: Mirage available on PS Plus? No.
  • Is Kayak VR: Mirage available on Xbox? No.

Kayak VR: Mirage is more about taking in one's surroundings than it is about enjoying the actual gameplay, but that doesn't make the overall experience any less rewarding. From the comfort of their seats, players can row their virtual kayaks through some truly stunning settings, giving their arms a slight workout while drinking in the beautiful vistas around them.

Though players will need to ensure that they have a bit of space by their sides and ideally a seat without armrests, Kayak VR: Mirage is the perfect PSVR 2 game to play while sitting down. Some of the races can be a little challenging, but those looking for a more relaxing video game experience can instead choose to soak in the view in either the free-roam or tour mode.

  • Is No Man's Sky available on PS Plus? No.
  • Is No Man's Sky available on Xbox? Yes.

The journey of No Man's Sky is a truly astounding one, with the game having come on leaps and bounds since its disastrous release back in August of 2016. It now boasts one of gaming's greatest redemption arcs and continues to improve with every new patch and update pushed out by developer Hello Games. In early 2023, update 4.1 added support for PSVR 2, as well as a few other fixes and features.

Some will likely be disappointed by how little has changed visually when compared to playing the game on the original PSVR, though this is more of a testament to the excellence of the latter than it is a fault of the PSVR 2 version of No Man's Sky. Besides, the real difference comes not in the way that the game looks, but instead in how it controls, with the PSVR 2's Sense controllers making a huge difference to proceedings.

  • Is Tetris Effect: Connected available on PS Plus? No.
  • Is Tetris Effect: Connected available on Xbox? Yes.

Despite both its age and its simplicity, the core gameplay on offer in Tetris is as enjoyable today as it was back in the eighties. In fact, there may even be an argument for the game being even better these days, with the multiplayer and VR support on offer in Tetris Effect: Connected helping to freshen up Alexey Pajitnov's block-busting classic for a whole new generation of gamers.

Tetris Effect: Connected is one of those games that use virtual reality for the wow factor rather than to enhance the actual gameplay. That's alright though, as the stunning backgrounds really do elevate the quality of the overall experience, allowing players to lose themselves in the moment and dedicate every drop of their attention to the strangely therapeutic task at hand.

  • Is Rez Infinite available on Xbox? No.

Despite its age, Rez Infinite is still a phenomenal game and one of the most visually striking games on the PSVR 2. Whether or not it's better to play the Dreamcast classic sitting or standing is perhaps a matter for debate, but the enhanced version of the game that was released for the PS5 in early 2023 provides players with all of the tools needed for the former.

Chief among these is the ability to target enemies using the PSVR 2's state-of-the-art gaze tracking, meaning that players barely need to lift a finger if they don't want to. Combine this with a swivel chair and a decent pair of headphones and players can enjoy one of the most singular and immersive virtual reality experiences on the market without ever having to leave their seat.

Although Moss can be played while standing up, it's arguably a much better experience when sitting down. Granted, players will need to turn their heads quite a bit in order to guide Quill around some of the environments, but a swiveling chair can lighten the load quite a bit for those who are worried about neck pains.

Moss is one of the best puzzle games on the PSVR 2 and a shining example of how the genre can integrate VR technology for more immersive experiences. There's a sequel, too, so those who enjoy playing through the first game can dive straight into Moss: Book 2 to check out the end of Quill's epic adventure as she endeavors to save the land of Moss.

  • Is Thumper available on PS Plus? No.
  • Is Thumper available on Xbox? Yes.

Thumper is a rhythm game in which players control a metallic creature as it travels along an endless rollercoaster-like track. As they make their way further through the game, they'll gradually be introduced to new mechanics and concepts which they'll then need to master in order to successfully complete the stage. It's a relatively simple game as far as core mechanics go, but far from an easy one.

The fact that all forward movement is handled automatically makes Thumper one of the best PSVR 2 games to play while sitting down. The game's beautifully rendered graphics also earn it some bonus points, as too does the manner in which each of the game's core mechanics is introduced and explained to players. This is a fun yet challenging game that fans of the genre dare not skip.

  • Is Gran Turismo 7 available on PS Plus? No.
  • Is Gran Turismo 7 available on Xbox? No.

Given that Gran Turismo 7 is arguably the best game on the platform, it should perhaps come as no surprise to learn that it is also one of the best PSVR 2 games to play while sitting down. After all, players spend pretty much all of their time playing it sat in the driver's seat of one of the game's 300+ vehicles. With that in mind, it would actually be pretty weird if they decided to try and play it while standing up.

Despite having initially been released as a standard PS5 exclusive game, Gran Turismo 7 feels like a title that was developed with virtual reality in mind. Sure, the lack of support for the Sense controllers is a bit of a letdown, but the game's integration with the headset itself is almost flawless, both when it comes to bombing around one of the many real-world tracks and checking out cars in the newly added VR showroom.
