Over the years, Pokemon Creepypastas have become an incredibly popular sub-genre of internet scary stories. These urban legends have sparked several chilling tales that have inspired players all over the world to timidly pick up their old copies of the games and see if their old pixel partners are the same happy creatures they once knew.

While many of these stories are entirely fictitious, some have become so infamous that they've inspired developers to make re-creations and re-imaginings of some Pokemon creepypastas in the form of playable games. Fans of the stories detailing vengeful, bloodthirsty Pokemon can now live through a handful of the unsettling tales that have never been forgotten by those who once viewed Pokemon as a friendly, lighthearted series.

6 Pokemon Cursed Forever

Pokemon Cursed Forever follows a pretty run-of-the-mill creepypasta. The protagonist finds a slightly beat-up copy of Pokemon Yellow at a pawn shop, and upon playing it, discovers that there are quite a few chilling differences between the regular game and the one they picked up. Amidst the unsettling discoveries, the protagonist realizes during a fight with the wide-eyed and creepily smiling Uchakip (Pikachu spelled backwards) that the creatures don't just sink into the ground and faint after they're defeated. Instead, they die.

Squiderman created a playable version of Pokemon Cursed Forever, released on May 25th, 2021. As it's a relatively new adaptation of the Pokemon creepypasta, it hasn't received much traction. That said, it's a must-play for any fans of the original story, especially those who have played other games based on Pokemon creepypastas.

5 Escape From Lavender Town

Escape From Lavender_Town (1)

Any die-hard fan of Pokemon creepypastas knows the myth of Lavender Town. As if it wasn't creepy enough that the small town contains one of the grimmest locations in any of the games, the graveyard known as Pokemon Tower, it's rumored that the town's signature tune released with the original versions of Pokemon Red & Blue contained a specific frequency that could drive kids to commit unspeakable acts on themselves.

At the end of the day, this myth is just a hoax adding to the unsettling ambiance of Lavender Town. That said, the tale of Lavender Town Syndrome has inspired countless stories, art, and other media based on the creepypasta. One of the most popular has been a game developed by adriendittrick, titled Escape From Lavender Town. It's a short, free-to-play game that's loaded with fourth-wall-breaking scares, creepy dialogue, and of course, the spine-chilling frequencies of the original Lavender Town Theme.

Hacking Pokemon games using a GameShark or ActionReplay can yield some incredible results. Sometimes players will hack in hard-to-find legendary creatures, unlimited rare candies, and shiny Pokemon. In the case of Easter Egg: Snow On Mt. Silver, perhaps certain secrets hidden in the game's code would have been better left untouched.

Easter Egg: Snow On Mt. Silver has been re-imagined into a myriad of other pieces of media, including a short film based on the original story, incredibly gory artwork, and even a fan-made game based on the events of the creepypasta. The original version of the game was developed by ProfessorCreepyPasta, Mibevan, and DarksoulzFZ in 2015. Annie-Mienai then re-made and re-released the playable version of Easter Egg: Snow On Mt. Silver in 2020.

3 Pokemon Creepy Black

Pokemon Creepy Black tells the story of an almost completely normal playthrough of Pokemon Red & Blue. The catch is that the protagonist has an extra, un-removable Pokemon in their party named "Ghost." Ghost has the same sprite as Pokemon in Pokemon Tower before they're unveiled with the Silph Scope and can use a move called "curse," which can defeat any Pokemon in one hit. What's so dark about this extra creature is that when this move is used, it kills the opponent's Pokemon. After the protagonist has killed all the opponent's critters, they can kill the enemy trainer themselves, leaving a tombstone where they once stood.

Developed by Ax461, Pokemon Creepy Black is a much longer game than most games based on Pokemon creeypastas. The player can play through the entirety of the first generation game with Ghost, killing off their opponents and their Pokemon until they beat the Elite Four. After that? Well, the player is in for a surprise, as they're met with the consequences of their genocidal actions.

2 Pokemon Lost Silver

Pokemon Lost Silver is undeniably one of the most infamous playable Pokemon creepypastas. From its haunting story to its creepy graphics, this story has remained a classic in this sub-genre. Over the years, several channels online have played through Pokemon Lost Silver, and discovered its multiple endings (which the original story didn't have).

Developed by Creepy, Pokemon Lost Silver follows a nameless character as he navigates the dark, haunting Bellsprout Tower. Instead of the area playing as it normally does in Pokemon Silver & Gold, the protagonist is left to aimlessly wander the dark hallways of the tower. Pokemon in the protagonist's party will spell out different chilling messages as he progresses, such as "LEAVE HURRY," and "DYING," losing hope for their escape as it becomes futile.

1 Hypno's Lullaby

pokemon hypno lullaby (1)

"Hypno's Lullaby," originally, was a haunting song based on the various PokeDex entries for Hypno. Many of them state that Hypno uses its pendulum to hypnotize and manipulate people, most often children. Pokemon X's entry for Hypno even states that there "once was an incident in which it [Hypno] took away a child it hypnotized."

This entry likely references a side quest in Pokemon LeafGreen & FireRed, where the player must find a lost girl in the forest who was implied to have been lured away by Hypno. The game based on Hypno's Lullaby follows that exact event but puts a much darker, sinister twist on what becomes of the unfortunate protagonist who enters the forest and tries to rescue the lost little girl from Hypno.
