The Game Awards 2022 nominees have been announced, and the event is dominated by PlayStation this year. Game Awards host Geoff Keighley recently revealed the full list of Game Awards 2022 nominees, and it's clear by the lineup that PlayStation has had an incredible 2022.

In total, PlayStation has secured 20 nominations for games it's published in 2022. The Game of the Year category alone is PlayStation-centric, five out of the six games nominated either PlayStation exclusive or readily available to play on a PlayStation console. In terms of pure exclusives, God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West are nominated for Game of the Year, while console exclusive Stray is also up for the coveted prize. A Plague Tale: Requiem and Elden Ring are multi-platform releases with PlayStation versions available, and the only game nominated for Game of the Year that can't be played on PlayStation is Switch exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

PlayStation console exclusives dominate other Game Awards 2022 categories as well. God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Stray are also nominated in the Best Game Direction and Best Art Direction categories. Meanwhile, God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West are also getting nods in the Best Narrative category as well.

PlayStation Games Nominated at Game Awards

  • God of War Ragnarok - 10 nominations
  • Horizon Forbidden West - 7 nominations
  • Gran Turismo 7 - 2 nominations
  • The Last of Us Part 1 - 1 nomination

God of War Ragnarok is the most-nominated game at The Game Awards 2022 with 10 total nominations, beating out the likes of Elden Ring and fellow PlayStation exclusive Horizon Forbidden West. But other PlayStation games are also nominated for awards. Racing game Gran Turismo 7 has been nominated for Best Audio Design and Best Sports/Racing Game, whereas The Last of Us Part 1 is nominated for the Innovation in Accessibility award.

Not only is Sony and PlayStation dominating the video game-centric awards at The Game Awards 2022, but they may also win the Best Adaptation award. The Game Awards 2022 has nominated the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland for Best Adaptation, though it admittedly has some stiff competition. The favorites to win that category are Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, both of which earned near-universal acclaim, whereas the Uncharted movie had a more middling reception.

Regardless, it's likely that PlayStation is going to walk away from The Game Awards 2022 with multiple awards. It will be interesting to see if PlayStation leverages its sizable presence at the event to highlight some of its upcoming projects as well, like the PlayStation VR2 headset. Notably, there are no PlayStation-published games in the Most Anticipated category for Sony to hype, though PS5 timed exclusive Final Fantasy 16 does have a chance of winning that particular award.
