DC Comics has been publishing comics, TV shows, video games, and movies since the 1930s, and they have a massive pool of heroes and villains that they've created and featured over the years. Many classic characters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are impossible to avoid knowing about nowadays.

DC also has a roster of popular villains as well, such as the Joker and Brainiac, who are featured throughout TV shows and movies. However, there are also a lot of low-profile villains that aren't as well-known as those previously named. Here is a list of villains that have only appeared in one storyline through the DC universe.

10 Knightfall

DC Knightfall introducing herself to Batgirl

Charise Carnes is a villainous mirror of Batman; after a tragic event that saw her accused of murdering her own family, Charise uses her massive wealth and connections to conduct her own vigilante justice, but one that is murderous and vicious. Her actions cause her to come into conflict with Batgirl, who she tries to recruit on multiple occasions.

Batgirl obviously refuses, so the two of them fight, with Batgirl being victorious. While Knightfall claims that she will easily get herself out of prison with her wealth and connections, she currently remains incarcerated in prison.

9 Nyssa Raatko

DC Nyssa Raatko stabbing Ra's al Ghul in the chest

Ra's al Ghul's most famous child is Talia al Ghul, a prominent member of the League of Assassins and an occasional lover of Batman. However, Ra's al Ghul has had multiple children during his long lifespan, including Nyssa Raatko, a daughter introduced in Death and the Maidens who initially distances herself from her father's extreme beliefs.

After a horrific tragedy that leaves her family dead, Nyssa begins to harbor a grudge towards her father, who refused to help her. Nyssa makes a plan to brainwash Talia, assassinate Ra's al Ghul and Superman at the same time, and take over the League of Assassins. While Batman saves Superman from assassination, he is unable to do the same for Ra's. Although Nyssa takes control of the League, she does not appear much again and is ultimately killed in a car bombing.

8 Solaris (DC One Million)

DC Solaris bearing down on the future Justice League

DC often does a lot of hypothetical miniseries focusing on alternate worlds, and DC One Million explores a version of the DC Universe in the far-flung future of the 853rd century. Solaris is described as the endless opponent of Superman's successors, fighting each new generation as they appear.

When the original Superman is about to return after thousands of years of isolation, Solaris plots to assassinate him with a piece of hidden kryptonite. However, thanks to some planning and time travel, the kryptonite turns out to be a disguised Green Lantern ring, which Superman uses to neutralize Solaris once and for all.

7 Magog (Kingdom Come)

DC A television broadcast showing Magog during his fight against Parasite

Kingdom Come is a classic comic storyline taking place in an alternate DC universe where the traditional conventions of superheroes are being challenged by modern, less moral vigilantes. Leading the modern wave is Magog, a vigilante who becomes popular after killing the Joker.

Magog raises a generation of violent heroes and vigilantes, but his reign soon ends when a fight with the Parasite leaves the Midwest United States leveled by a nuclear blast. While Magog does not play a part in most of the main story, his actions, in the beginning, are what cause the plot of the miniseries to happen.

6 Jack The Ripper (Gotham By Gaslight)

DC Jack the Ripper stalking in a slaughterhouse

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is a DC Animated Movie based loosely on the comic of the same name, which features a version of Batman that exists in the 19th century. The Batman in this universe preoccupies himself with Jack the Ripper, a notorious serial killer haunting the streets of London.

Jack the Ripper is ultimately revealed to be this universe's version of Jim Gordon, which is quite a twist for people who are fans of Batman. While Batman is ultimately able to stop Jack the Ripper, his heinous actions throughout the movie make him one of the most brutal killers Batman has ever faced.

5 Holiday

DC an obscured Holiday shooting several people

In Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman is confronted with a series of mysterious murders happening on holidays. Relying on both allies in the police force and villains like Calendar Man, Batman attempts to discover Holiday's identity while also preventing a war between mafia families.

Holiday is interesting not just because of their actions, but the fact that identity remains unclear even by the end of the book. Was Holiday a single killer, or multiple killers with their own motivations? The mystery of Holiday makes this series one of Batman's most intriguing stories.

4 Terra

DC Terra arguing with Deathstroke

Tara Markov was a member of the legendary Teen Titans who was secretly working for Deathstroke as a spy. She wormed her way into the Teen Titans' hearts, only to betray them by giving Deathstroke the information necessary to defeat and capture them.

Dick Grayson manages to save his fellow teammates, debuting his new Nightwing persona in the process. When Terra believes that Deathstroke has betrayed her, she tries to bring down the building in an attempt to kill them all. The Teen Titans and Deathstroke survive, but Terra dies in the chaos.

3 Phantasm

DC Phantasm appearing from the smoke

One of the earliest DCAU movies was Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, which was set in the universe of the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. Phantasm was a vigilante that killed crime bosses in Gotham, and her true identity was Andrea Beaumont, a former lover of Bruce Wayne.

While Phantasm makes minor appearances after Mask of the Phantasm, the movie is the only storyline to feature her as a major villain. Her dual role as a lover of Bruce Wayne and a remorseless killer created a villain that was both vicious and sympathetic.

2 Parallax (Hal Jordan)

DC Hal Jordan announcing his transformation into Parallax

After Mongul's attack during the Reign of the Supermen storyline ended in the destruction of Coast City, a grieving Hal Jordan goes insane. He slaughters the Green Lantern corps and takes the energy in the Central Power Battery for himself, calling himself Parallax afterward. His actions result in the Zero Hour miniseries, in which he attempts to reset the entire universe.

Parallax is eventually stopped and later would sacrifice himself to save the Sun from being destroyed. Although Hal Jordan would return to his classic role as the Green Lantern, he would never adopt the Parallax persona ever again.

1 Ozymandias

DC Ozymandias talking to Rorsharch and Nite Owl

Watchmen is one of the most influential comic books published by DC, and its self-contained world remains one of the most interesting stories in comic series history. The serial focuses on a mysterious case of former superheroes being targeted by a killer.

The culprit is ultimately revealed to be Adrian Veldt, who was formerly the superhero Ozymandias. His ploys to manipulate world powers into negotiating peace by engineering a crisis that would kill millions made him one of the most conniving and ruthless villains in comic book history.
