The Nintendo Switch is one of the world's best-selling video game consoles, and its momentum is showing no signs of slowing down. The Nintendo Switch's library of high quality games continues to grow at an exponential rate, with new titles releasing on a weekly basis. Due to its unique hardware capabilities, though, some genres seem to be doing especially well on the Nintendo Switch, as is the case with puzzle games.

The Nintendo Switch is home to quite a few great puzzle games for fans of the genre to try. This includes some of the most challenging head-scratchers currently available, as well as match-3 style puzzle games and more relaxed titles. Here are five of the best puzzle games currently available on the Nintendo Switch.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker Mine Car Art

One of the best and most fully-featured Nintendo Switch puzzle games is an enhanced port of the Wii U game Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Instead of just bringing the Wii U game to the Switch and calling it a day, Nintendo made sure to add a slew of new content to Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker's re-release. This includes some brand new levels for players to complete, as well as the option to go through the entire game in co-op with a friend.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker's puzzles are all about perspective. Instead of completing platforming challenges like players would normally do in a Super Mario game, Captain Toad has players rotating levels to change the way they look, in turn revealing new paths, hidden treasures, and more. The ability to play through the entirety of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker with a friend only enhances the experience, and makes it a must-play game for puzzle game fans on Switch.

Mario's Super Picross

Speaking of co-op puzzle games, Mario's Super Picross fits the bill as well. Released as part of the Nintendo Switch Online service, this Super Famicom game is in Japanese, but players won't need to understand the language to play the game. Mario's Super Picross is packed full of picross puzzles for players to complete, including a set of traditional problems and another that looks to see how fast players can complete each puzzle with minimal hints. The game can be played cooperatively with a friend, with adds a nice wrinkle to the typical picross experience. Mario's Super Picross is one of the better puzzle games currently available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, and it's definitely worth checking out, especially for retro game enthusiasts.

On top of that, both games feature a variety of game modes to keep things fresh, including full-blown story modes, which are rare for puzzle games.

The game also includes some extra game modes, like Party, which has puzzles that require more than two players, and Blitz, which is more about competitive multiplayer gameplay. Those who already played the original Snipperclips may want to check out Snipperclips Plus, which includes the base game along with new levels, modes, and more.

Tetris is the world's most-famous puzzle video game, and since it's available on nearly every console, it's no surprise that Tetris also has a presence on the Nintendo Switch. Besides the aforementioned Puyo Puyo TetrisTetris can also be found through the Nintendo Switch Online subscription in the form of Tetris 99. Essentially a Tetris battle royale game, Tetris 99 sees players do battle with 99 opponents, trying to eliminate their lines as fast as possible while sending hazards to screw up other players. Tetris 99 is supported to this day with special events, which have gone a long way in keeping fans engaged with the game for the long-term.

Besides the games listed here, there many other high quality Nintendo Switch puzzle titles available to owners of the console. These include titles like Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, which was developed and published by Nintendo itself, as well as Toki Tori. Fans of Mario's Super Picross, meanwhile, may also want to check out some of the Picross S games that are available on the Nintendo eShop, as they have similar features as that game, including co-op support.
