The fashion on display in anime can either be really basic or very extravagant. Though whether a character's fashion choices are really functional or not can sometimes be questioned, they do at least look cool. These anime characters have bandanas that have become iconic and are either worn on their heads or around their necks or arms.

Some of them have either worn them once or multiple times, but they’re memorable because they look cool. Plus, when some characters put them on, viewers know that they mean business and are getting serious. For those that don’t wear their bandana all the time, fans know that something is going to happen when it’s on.

10 May's Stylish Red And Green Bandanas (Pokemon)

May Diamond and Pearl Sapphire and Ruby (Pokemon)

Like Ash Ketchum’s cap, May’s bandanas have become pretty iconic when fans think of her. In her anime debut during the Ruby and Sapphire Arc, May sported a red bandana with a white Pokeball design on it. Though it matched the color scheme of her outfit, the bandana still managed to stand out and looked very stylish on her.

In the Diamond and Pearl Arc, May traded in her red bandana for a green one that looks pretty similar. Instead of matching her outfit’s color scheme, however, the bandana was matched to her green fanny pack and looked pretty bright compared to everything else.

9 Ryo Kurokiba's Flaming Bandana (Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma)

Ryo Kurokiba (Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma)

Looking at Kurokiba, he seems pretty slow and lazy, but he’s very different when he puts on his bandana to cook. Matching the flame design of it, Kurokiba becomes a fiery, aggressive, and passionate man that intimidates most people around him. He almost looks like a demon with his violent outbursts and rough-mannered speech. This personality even makes the most-seasoned, experienced, and older chefs listen to him because the aura of intimidation around him is just that strong.

Fans know that when Kurokiba puts his bandana on, he means business. He sees the kitchen to be a battlefield and isn’t afraid to tell his opponents off if they’re too calm or meek. However, he goes back to his normal laid-back self even in mid-sentence almost as soon as his bandana is taken off.

8 Karui's White Forehead Protector Bandana (Naruto Shippuden)

Karui (Naruto Shippuden)

This list could be filled with characters from Naruto alone, but, for now, Karui is the main focus. She wears her forehead protector as a bandana. It's white, while most characters who wear theirs more as a headband have one that's navy blue. Against her bright red hair, this bandana makes Karui stand out among the characters.

Karui might not get much screen time, but she definitely stands out when she does appear. If her red hair doesn’t grab the viewer’s attention, her white bandana almost certainly will.

7 Roronoa Zoro's Black Bandana (One Piece)

Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)

He doesn’t wear it much these days, but One Piece viewers will likely have fond memories of when Zoro wore this bandana regularly. He kept this tied around his left arm when he wasn’t fighting but would put it on whenever things got serious during a fight.

It’s a simple black-green bandana, but just seeing him wear it made fans know that the fight he was in was going to be good. Now, the bandana remains tightly wrapped around his left arm most of the time. There are still some occasional moments in which he’ll wear it, but, for the most part, Zoro opts to keep it as an arm accessory these days.

6 Winry's Bandanas (Fullmetal Alchemist And Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist And Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)

Whether fans watch the 2003 anime or Brotherhood, Winry has some cool bandanas. In the 2003 show, Winry would wear a pink bandana to keep her fringe out of her way while doing her automail work. It’s pretty basic, but it did add a nice girly touch to her work clothes, which are a pale purple jumpsuit and black tube top. However, this doesn’t mean Winry isn’t afraid to yell and throw a wrench at Edward when he gets out of line.

In Brotherhood, Winry wears a green bandana while working. It matches her overall look while she works since instead of a pale purple jumpsuit, she now wears a beige jumpsuit and black tube top. Her look might be basic, but Winry looks amazing and tough, and fans of her can easily put it together if they want to cosplay as her.

5 Levi's Cleaning Bandana (Attack On Titan)

Levi Ackerman (Attack On Titan)

He only wore it once, but Levi’s look while cleaning has become pretty iconic. Levi loves to have a clean place and the one time he went all out, he wore a white bandana to keep his hair back. It was just a plain white bandana, but it looked so weirdly cool on him because of his overall look. He even wore another bandana as a mask to protect his nose and mouth which really just looked funny and made it memorable.

It’s stuck in the minds of Attack on Titan fans because it’s one of the few moments that Levi is a little relaxed. Plus, it was one of the few moments that was chill but comedic which are few and far between in the series.

4 Pan's Orange Bandana (Dragon Ball GT)

Pan (Dragon Ball GT)

Love it or hate it, Dragon Ball GT still exists and Gohan and Videl’s daughter Pan was a main character in it. Though reception of her is about as divisive as the show itself, Pan’s look fits her tomboyish personality. Though she wears a bright red shirt that stands out, her orange bandana is equally bright and makes her a bright beacon. It’s easy to spot her if she were standing with other characters.

Without her bandana, Pan doesn’t stand out anywhere near as much thanks to her family having dark hair and eyes. However, she looks like a young Chichi from back in her Dragon Ball days, which is a nice throwback.

3 Bandit Keith's All-American Bandana (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Bandit Keith (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Anyone wondering where Bandit Keith is from need only look at the bandana on top of his head. The bandana is the same design as the American flag and lets everyone know where he’s from. It fits with his biker image and looks pretty out there, especially when he’s with his gang.

All of them had unique looks, but Keith definitely stands out thanks to his bandana and overall wardrobe. Even during the Battle City Arc, Keith continued to wear it under the hooded cloak he wore while possessed by Marik. It just shows how important it is to his character design, because he wouldn’t really look the same or be quite as memorable without it.

2 Anna's Red Bandana (Shaman King)

Anna Kyoyama (Shaman King)

Anna is one tough girl and it’s a good thing that she’s going to be Yoh’s wife since she's the opposite of him. While Yoh dressed up in lighter colors, Anna dresses in darker colors. She almost always wears her red bandana which helps her stand out even when next to Yoh.

It’s a plain red bandana, but with her plain black dress and blue beaded rosary, she looks tough yet a little girly. Her overall appearance shows that having an extravagant look isn’t needed to be iconic. Anna just sticks with the basics and looks fabulous whenever she appears.

1 Yato's "Fluffy Fluff" Bandana Scarf (Noragami)

Yato (Noragami)

This bandana might be the opposite of fluffy, but Yato refers to it as “Fluffy Fluff” and Noragami fans know it as such. Yato regularly wears this scarf while he’s out doing his god work and it honestly looks more like a rag. However, Yato loves it and manages to rock it along with his tracksuit. On anyone else, this bandana would look a little silly, but it’s become pretty iconic in Yato’s look.

Even if someone insults Yato’s look or his sweaty hands, he doesn’t change up his look. There have been a few times that he doesn’t wear it, but when most Noragami fans think of him, Yato usually has his scarf on.
