Whether it is saving the world, protecting their friends and family from potential danger, or just out for vengeance, heroes in video games are overwhelmed with responsibilities while fending off enemies that threaten their life. With that, heroes in video games, in any genre, are given certain tools to get through their obstacles.

Thankfully, there are some heroes who are gifted with several tools to take on their foes. But not every hero is as iconic as these certain ones. From blades to guns, these are the top iconic heroes that have multiple weapons to wield.

5 Kratos: God Of War

Kratos is known for his rage and hatred for the Gods, and he has made it abundantly clear through his franchise, God of War. While the most recent release, God of War 4, showed Kratos in a whole new light as he took care of his son, Atreus, Kratos is still an iconic character that wields multiple weapons.

Though God of War: Ascension did not gift Kratos with multiple weapons, only leaving him with the Blades of Chaos, the other games give Kratos more weapons. For example, in Chains of Olympus, Kratos has the Gauntlet of Zeus, and in Betrayal, he has the Blades of Athena and the Blade of Artemis. And in the most recent release, he possesses the Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos.

4 Ezio Auditore: Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed allows players go through history while becoming an assassin within the Brotherhood. Most assassins are covered in weapons to make sure their job can be done properly, however, Ezio has the most iconic dual hidden blades that place him on this list. Thankfully, other games like Syndicate and Black Flag allows players to enjoy the game with dual weapons.

For example, in Syndicate, not only do players get to play between either Frye sibling, but each one has their own chosen weapon. Depending on which tactic players want to use, they can use the hidden blade with poison darts or smoke bombs, or go in guns-blazing and use brass knuckles or cane-swords. And in Black Flag, players can use the iconic hidden blade with the Flinktlock Pistols.

3 Master Chief: Halo

Halo is one of the most iconic games for the Xbox, and its main character, Master Chief, is just as iconic. Thankfully, due to his ample choices in weapons, he has made it on the list of dual-wielding heroes. Since the franchise has been around for a while, there have been many weapons that have been added.

Some examples of these weapons are the Battle Rifle introduced in Halo 2, the Magnum Pistol introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved and Energy Swords introduced in Halo 2 and has become an iconic weapon in the franchise.

2 Edge: Final Fantasy

Like many iconic games here, Final Fantasy is a franchise that has been going on for many years, creating several installments of the game. And thankfully, because of this ongoing creation, there are a lot of weapons and even the ability to dual-wield weapons. In Final Fantasy 2, all characters can dual-wield weapons except if they are using bows.

As more games are released, exceptions to this rule are added, however, it is still a possibility. For example, in Final Fantasy 5, dual-wielding is a level five ability in the Ninja Class. And in Final Fantasy 14, Pugilists, Rogues, Monks, Ninjas and Dancers use a pair of weapons, however they act as one.

1 Dovahkiin: Elder Scrolls

It might be a little unfair to put games such as Elder Scrolls on the list since most RPGs like this allow players to pick and choose how they want to build their character, but with such a famous franchise, it’s impossible to not place it on the list. When picking up Skyrim, players are playing as the Last Dragonborn and can choose what they want to use for weapons, whether it is daggers, a sword, magic, or a combination of them.

That being said, dual wielding is available from the start. While most players enjoy having a few spells in their arsenal to be able to heal themselves during battle without worrying about flasks of health, there is the possibility of using dual daggers, or whatever combination they want.
