Battle royales are online multiplayer games that include exploration, scavenging, and survival. The end goal is to be the last person standing. Some well-known battle royales are PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite, and Apex Legends.
These are great to lose track of time when playing, especially with one as popular as Fortnite. There are tons of different weapons to try, different real-life players each time for diverse battles, and multiple strategies on how to come out the victor. Battle royales are the embodiment of "just one more game".
6 The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has a massive open-world experience incomparable to previous games in the Zelda franchise. Players can interact with characters, fight monsters, solve puzzles in shrines, cook, and more. The game show on the horizon and later marks on the map where Ganondorf can be found and fought. The more upgrades a player gets, the easier the fight will be, but it is possible to fight Ganondorf at any time and complete the game.
Because the world is so vast, this game has so many side quests for players to complete. These can come from characters, exploration, or even in the form of cooking every recipe. With so much optional content and opportunity for exploration, it's possible to get lost in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and forget about the main plot by accident.
5 Hades
Roguelikes are role-playing games where players go on a dungeon crawl. They normally have procedurally generated levels and permanent death that forces people to reset each run. However, players can collect upgrades that better equip them for later runs.
Hades is a great example of these types of games. It takes inspiration from Greek mythology and has many options for weapons, buffs, and endings. Roguelikes are the perfect type of game to make players think "just one more try".
4 The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
The Elder Scrolls series is a set of action RPG games with large open worlds. Players explore, fight, trade, and more while progressing through the plot. Each game is set in its own region of the continent Tamriel.
One of the games in this series is Morrowind. It has a lot of side quests and options for players to get lost doing things other than the main plot. With expansion packs also available, players can level up, gather gear, get overpowered, and adventure through the game for ages before doing almost any of the main story.
3 Minecraft
There are a ton of things players can do in the sandbox game Minecraft. This sandbox game has combat, crafting, building, exploring, and more. The way to beat Minecraft is to defeat the Ender Dragon. There are tons of speedruns of Minecraft.
While this game can take a while to finish for some, the record in version 1.16 is under ten minutes. However, players can spend hours just building a house they like the look of. Because of all the farming, building, and exploring options, players can easily sink days and days into this game.
2 Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a role-playing farming simulator. Players can befriend townsfolk, farm, explore, mine, and more. There are many achievements in this game and plot-relevant quests, such as passing the farm evaluation from Grandpa's ghost. However, there is no set goal for the completion of the game.
Because there is no task to mark the end, Stardew Valley can be played until a person gets bored with their game, wants to make new decisions, or feels like trying a new farming map style. With tons of characters to marry, crops to choose from, and cave floors to explore, players can sit back, relax, and zone out while harvesting cabbages.
1 The Sims 4
The Sims series is a set of social simulation games. In them, players control characters' lives, from building a house and getting jobs, to deciding when they sleep, eat, or talk to people. Characters will naturally age, have children, and die unless players turn off that option, meaning that the game continues through new generations of Sims.
Whether characters are immortal or not, players can spend hours upgrading and evolving their characters. With tons of housing options and items, games such as The Sims: 4 can entertain people for hours on just building homes and character creation, let alone playing the actual game.
