FromSoftware games have earned a reputation as being some of the most difficult games on the market, and for good reason. FromSoftware titles often push players' abilities to the limit, challenging them with powerful bosses that require great skill to overcome. Elden Ring is no exception to that rule, but sometimes skill isn't enough. There are times when Elden Ring players will need to collect runes to level up if they hope of standing a chance at surviving against whatever threat they're dealing with in the game, and since each level requires more runes than the last, some players may feel the need to farm for them.

There are a variety of spots in Elden Ring where players can farm for runes effectively, but there is one area in the game that is particularly useful for rune farming. If players are able to make their way to the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace Site of Grace in Mohgwyn Palace, they will find a ledge populated by strange creatures that are great to kill for rune farming purposes, but there's an even better enemy to focus on off in the distance.

While Elden Ring players are certainly welcome to kill the enemies on the ledge for runes, shooting the bird-like creature across the canyon is an even better method of rune farming. After shooting the bird, it will charge the player character, and then they can simply rest at the nearby Site of Grace to get their runes, reset the bird, and repeat the process indefinitely. This is such a great place to farm for runes in Elden Ring that some may go as far as to consider it an exploit, but it doesn't seem as though FromSoftware feels that way.

FromSoftware recently released a new Elden Ring update that makes a variety of fixes to the game as well as addresses some feedback by adding NPC markers to the map and giving characters new quest phases. As confirmed by Game Rant's own testing, the update does nothing to change this fan favorite rune farming spot, which seems to suggest that FromSoftware itself may not necessarily consider it an exploit. Then again, it's also possible that the FromSoftware developers do plan on nerfing this rune farming spot at some point down the line and just didn't get around to it in this update, so fans should keep that in mind.

Elden Ring players can maximize their rune farming potential here through the use of specific items like the Gold Scarab or Gold-Picked Fowl Feet. They should still get a minimum of 11,000 runes per run regardless, so it's still a worthwhile destination even without those items in tow.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
