15 Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws

Disney Santa Buddies

The Buddies series was the guilty pleasure of every child at one point or another. And there's nothing better than cringing at oneself when older and wiser, so why not watch a classic kid's movie this holiday season?

The gang – Budderball, B-Dawg, Rosebud, Buddha, and Mudbud – go on a festive journey to the North Pole, where Puppy Paws (the son of Santa Paws) looks for the true meaning of the holiday season. Of course, it ends on a cliche note: it's not about what one gets; it's about what one gives.

14 Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas

Good Luck Charlie It's Christmas

Today's young adults know Good Luck Charlie all too well. And while they've already grown up to be well-rounded adults, it's always heartwarming to visit the classics of their childhood and show off their exquisite taste in movies to the children.

The plot is unsurprisingly simple, as Teddy and Amy find themselves separated from the rest of the family during the holiday season. Hopefully, this won't be accounted as a spoiler, but they eventually make it back to the family saving Christmas and spending it as they should: with their family.

13 The Nutcracker And The Four Realms

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

There's nothing that says "Christmas" louder than anything related to The Nutcracker. Some people enjoy it live in the ballet, others dust off the Barbie DVD, but Disney+ released a 2018 remake of the classic. Starring Keira Knightley and Morgan Freeman, this movie is a fresh take on the classics for adults and an exciting new journey for children.

While it might be too flashy or overcomplicated for some people, and it gives off Alice in Wonderland vibes, it's undeniable that the creators did a fabulous job creating the magical setting for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

12 Winnie The Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year

Winnie The Pooh_ A Very Merry Pooh Year

Everyone's childhood buddy Pooh celebrates the holidays with his friends in Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year. It goes without saying that this is a children's movie, but a classic Pooh flick is always welcome by the adults in the family as well.

There's nothing better than cooking with the adults (drinking some cooking juice), and listening to this adorable movie in the background while the kids sit around and watch. The adults become nostalgic, the kids stay put, and there's peace in the family.

11 Full-Court Miracle

Full-Court Miracle

The Hanukkah movie Full-Court Miracle, based on real-life, takes the audience on a heartwarming journey. After a serious knee injury, the basketball star Lamont Carr is forced to leave his love of playing behind. By chance, he meets Alex, a Jewish boy who loves basketball but is in the need of some mentoring.

Alex persuades Lamont to coach their otherwise hopeless team, resulting in the team's fortunes prospering. Full-Court Miracle is an endearing movie for kids and adults alike and makes for a great Christmas/Hanukkah movie.

10 The Santa Clause 1, 2 & 3

The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause series is a favorite of many people. It has movements that bring back Evan Almighty vibes, as Scott (Tim Allen) takes over the role of Santa Claus for a year after accidentally killing a man in a Santa outfit.

While at first, he thinks it's all a joke or a dream, he begins growing a white beard and gaining weight, ultimately realizing that this is indeed for real and that he has some work to do. The second movie brings a romantic twist to the plot, alongside other obstacles, and the third entry in the series introduces Jack Frost to stir things up.

9 Disney's A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol

Disney's A Christmas Carol quickly became a worldwide Christmas classic after its release in 2009. Dickens' story has inspired multiple film adaptations ever since the first one in 1938. And while a 1938 movie may be a lot to swallow for little kids, this Disney classic put a refreshing spin on the classic story.

Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) thinks Christmas is all a joke and plans on spending the holidays in misery. After encountering four ghosts (one of his late business partners, and one of his past, his present, and his future), his bitterness begins to transform. Although his heart doesn't grow three sizes that day, the transformation is still heartwarming and beloved.

8 The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is not everyone's cup of tea, but it's one of the biggest classics for the holiday season. Whether it's Halloween or Christmas (or just a random Thursday night), this movie will never seize to bring a smile to everyone's face.

The movie's style and plot may be a little too scary for smaller children, but Tim Burton's recognizable style is no stranger to adults of the audience. It's dark and humorous, has a heartwarming plot development, and most importantly, is full of Danny Elfman songs which are bound to cause a week-long case of the earworms.

7 While You Were Sleeping

While You Were Sleeping

While You Were Sleeping is one of the best holiday chick flicks ever. Beloved by many, it's bound to end up on the movie marathon list annually. Lucy Moderatz (Sandra Bullock) finds herself once again amid the holiday season, without a family to celebrate it with.

Lucy plans on spending the holidays alone and takes on the Christmas shift in her job as a transit worker. During her shift, her long-time crush ends up falling between the tracks, saved by Lucy. In the hospital, the family believes she's his girlfriend and invites her to spend the holidays at their place. And the rest is history.

6 Home Alone 1, 2 & 3

Home Alone

Such a list cannot exist without Home Alone on the throne. Home Alone 1, 2, and 3 (we don't talk about the rest) are the perfect movies for adults and children alike. Watching them all together as an after-dinner special, eating the leftovers of the day, with torn-up wrapping paper everywhere is the perfect night.

The original movie series is a nostalgic favorite of many adults and an amazing experience for children watching it for the first time. People can simply never get enough of these classics. And thankfully, they're all available on Disney+.

5 Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas whole cast

This Disney Original film is one of the most nostalgic Christmas movies on the streaming platform. The anthology illustrates the tales of three different Christmas days, “Donald Duck: Stuck on Christmas”, “A Very Goofy Christmas”, and “Mickey and Minnie's Gift of the Magi”, all featuring Disney’s beloved cartoon cast.

If viewers are still hungry for more heartwarming Christmas shorts, they can check out the film’s sequel, Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas. Be warned, however, that its computer-animated style doesn’t quite measure up to the magic its hand-drawn predecessor possessed.

4 The Frozen Franchise

Elsa

From the overwhelmingly popular first film to its direct sequel to its numerous shorts, the Frozen franchise is the perfect thing to stream when one wants to celebrate the holiday season but wants to take a breather from the typical Christmas-centric productions.

Along with being a celebration of love and sisterhood, the franchise often feels like an ode to winter. The animation showcases the beauty of snow and ice, and its characters relish in the seasonal activities of snowman-making and curling up by warm fireplaces.

3 Mickey's Christmas Carol

Pete

Whether parents want to introduce their children to the story that defined many of the ideals Christmas holds close to its heart today without terrifying them or if subscribers simply want to enjoy a wholesome holiday cartoon, Disney’s first adaptation of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol is must-see when streaming during the holidays.

In contrast to the dark tone utilized in adaptations more faithful to the source material, Mickey’s Christmas Carol balances out the somber subject matter with an anthropomorphic animal cast and a comical cartoon style.

2 Noelle

Anna Kendrick in Noelle

Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader headline this Christmas comedy as Noelle and Nick Kringle, the children of the great Kris Kringle. After their father passes, the siblings struggle to maintain his legacy as Santa Claus with Nick expected to take up the red-suited mantle and the ever-merry Noelle attempting to encourage him through his training despite his obvious reluctance.

When Nick disappears following a heartfelt conversation with her, it’s up to Noelle to find and get him back to the North Pole before Christmas Eve.
