The anime industry is flourishing at an extraordinary pace, and new anime adaptations are being announced every week. It is easy to see that over the years the quantity of anime produced has increased significantly, and it is plausible to assume that the numbers will only continue to grow.
With the massive number of anime being produced nowadays, there is no doubt that not all of them manage to pique the interest of the viewers. Some anime are not as good, but because of certain characters, these anime become more enjoyable. Even if the story is mediocre, one star character can make an anime truly shine.
8 Escanor — Seven Deadly Sins
Escanor is widely regarded as the best character in Seven Deadly Sins. Despite being born into royalty, Escanor had a horrible time growing up. It was mainly because of his ability: Sunshine. The people of the land came to despise him so much that he was forced to run away from his kingdom.
Escanor's ability made him stronger depending on the time of the day he decided to use it. His power peaks at noon, and for exactly one minute, he is considered to be invincible. This mode is known as "The One," and it allowed him to fight against Assault Mode Meliodas. Escanor was involved in almost all the most interesting moments in Seven Deadly Sins. His one-liners combined, with his incredible personality, made him a fascinating character.
7 L Lawliet — Death Note
Death Note is an extremely popular anime, and it is often recommended to neophytes who are trying to get into the anime culture. At first, the anime feels nothing short of a masterpiece; however, there are several shortcomings. Among these, the biggest is that the show's quality takes a massive drop when L is killed.
Ever since his introduction, it was clear that L was the only reason that Yagami Light didn't just kill every last criminal on Earth. Light was aware of the threat that L posed to him, and so he decided to play it safe. It took Light a long time to outmaneuver L, and even then he required the help of Rem. After L's death, the series suffered massively, because the show thrived on the dynamic between L and Light.
6 Kira Yoshikage — Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Every JoJo part is unique, as it features new protagonists and new antagonists. Diamond is Unbreakable is the fourth installment in the JoJo series. It is set in Morioh after the Joestars defeat Dio in Egypt.
Kira Yoshikage is the main antagonist of Diamond is Unbreakable. He had been killing people in Morioh for years to satisfy his urges. Kira did not have any lofty ambitions, and on several occasions, he stated that he wanted to live a peaceful and quiet life. Kira's different approach made Diamond is Unbreakable more enjoyable, and he played an important role in its success as a story.
5 Naruto Uzumaki — Boruto
The story of Naruto Uzumaki was supposed to wrap up after he became the Hokage and married Hinata Hyuuga. However, it was decided that there would be a sequel to Naruto, and it was called Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
As a series, Boruto is very underwhelming, especially compared to its predecessor. There are only a few moments that have been able to captivate the attention of the viewers, and most of these moments involve Naruto Uzumaki. He is arguably the main reason behind the success of Boruto. In this sequel series, viewers get a chance to witness the growth of Naruto as he becomes a parent and the Hokage.
4 Joseph Joestar — Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Joseph Joestar is the main protagonist of JJBA: Battle Tendency, which is heavily focused on the Pillar-Men. Battle Tendency was an average story that was rescued by Joseph and his antics. The narrative is not as good as some of the other parts, and the main villain, Kars, was lacking in comparison to the other parts.
However, with the help of his humor and wit, Joseph made boring situations more interesting. He is the main reason why the bad ending of Battle Tendency is overlooked by the majority of the fans.
3 Saitama — One Punch Man
Saitama is the main character of One-Punch Man. Often considered a weak person because of his odd appearance, Saitama is among the strongest anime characters of all time. He has superhuman speed, strength, and reflexes.
The most impressive thing about Saitama is that he has managed to beat most of his opponents with a single punch, hence the anime's title. In addition to his incredible strength, Saitama also provides a comedic effect with funny faces and not-so-great responses.
2 Pikachu — Pokemon
Pikachu is among the most famous anime characters in the world. The electric mouse made its appearance in the very first season of Pokemon, and since then he has been among the regulars.
The story of Pokemon gets repetitive after a few seasons, as Ash's journey to conquer a new region is the same almost every time. Pikachu, however, is extremely adorable, and it has provided the fans with many amazing memories. Pikachu's hilarious expressions in particular can easily make a person laugh.
1 Alucard — Hellsing
An extraordinarily powerful vampire from Hellsing, Alucard serves an organization that deals with supernatural creatures. The anime is interesting, but a lot of the time, the shortcomings have been covered with gore and violence.
Alucard, though, helps to elevate the show to a different level. With his charisma, he mesmerizes the audience. Without Alucard, the quality of the show would undoubtedly plummet.
