It won’t be too much longer until gamers will be able to fire up a copy of Super Smash Bros. on their Nintendo 3DS, but the Wii U version is still months away from its scheduled Winter 2014 release. Fortunately for those that prefer the brawler on consoles, Nintendo announced that the general public and its legions of Smash fans will be able to head to a local Best Buy to get their hands on the game for the Big N’s current home console.
The only missing piece of the puzzle was a list of specifics pertaining to which locations would be participating in what Best Buy and Nintendo have labeled ‘Smash-Fest’. Now the company has confirmed to Business Wire just where and when Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be playable, and it sounds like gamers will only be able to sample the fighter for a very brief amount of time.
Beginning on June 11, fans can head to a select Best Buy and engage in some Smash from 4 to 9 p.m. local time, and it’ll be available once again starting on June 14 and running from 12 to 5 p.m.. A grand total of 37 States will have at least one location available to offer eager gamers the opportunity to play, but fight fans will have to head over to the official Best Buy website to see which venues are available.
As a bonus, the first 70 participants at each to pre-order either the Wii U or 3DS version of the game will receive a very exclusive Super Smash Bros. gold coin. Additionally, anyone that pre-orders will also receive a $5 ‘My Best Buy Rewards Zone’ card when they pick up their copy of the game from Best Buy.
UPDATE: Canadian gamers will also be able to get in on the Smash action at over 2o participating Best Buy locations. A list of every store in the Great White North offering players the chance to go hands-on with the title is featured on Best Buy’s official Canuck-centric web domain, so be sure to check that out. Additionally, only 25 golden Smash Bros. coins will be given out to the first fans in line that pre-order the title, so gamers would be wise to line up early if they want a chance to snag the limited paraphernalia.
Will you be heading to your local Best Buy to try out Super Smash Bros. for Wii U? Which character do you hope to try first?
Super Smash Bros. will hit the 3DS in Summer 2014, while the Wii U version will arrive in Winter 2014.
