Villains are an important part of any series as they add balance and make things more exciting. In many series, the villains have more impact on the viewers than the heroes. Despite their influence on the series, the villains are eventually taken down.

Unfortunately, many villains do not get enough screentime before they are defeated by the heroes, and sometimes this can be problematic as the viewers feel that the villains could have done with more screentime. With better screentime, their past, and actions could have been explained better. So, here are some awesome villains who deserve more time to shine.

7 Orochimaru – Naruto

Orochimaru (Naruto)

Orochimaru was one of the main highlights of Part I. He single-handedly terrorized the entire Hidden Leaf with his power. During the Konoha Crush, Orochimaru took on the Third Hokage and the latter was forced to use the Reaper Death Seal to stop his student's rampage.

However, Hiruzen could not bring himself to kill his favorite student, so he only sealed Orochimaru's arms. Orochimaru survived, but he did not get much screentime after this incident. He made a few appearances before he was killed by Sasuke, and then he appeared in the Fourth Great Ninja War, where he played a minor role.

6 Phantom Troupe – Hunter x Hunter

Hunter X Hunter - Phantom Troupe Leader Chrollo Still Frame Showing His Hatsu Book

The Phantom Troupe is led by Chrollo Lucifer, and it consists of some of the most powerful characters that are featured in the series. The group has been known to cause a lot of problems for other people. With their abilities, the Phantom Troupe managed to kill hundreds of Mafia members and completely ruin their auction.

It took the combined efforts of Zeno Zoldyck and his son Silva to stop Chrollo. After the Yorknew City arc was over, the Phantom Troupe made very limited appearances, and it has caused a great deal of concern for many fans.

5 Zodd – Berserk

Berserk Zodd transforms in his apostle form

Zodd is one of the strongest apostles in the entire series. Zodd's powers allowed him to live for a much longer time than humans and over time, he made a name for himself. His debut sent shivers down the spines of fans. When Guts first saw Zodd, the latter was standing next to a mountain of corpses.

Zodd became a legend, whose name was associated with death and when he fought Guts and Griffith, it left the viewers awestruck. Zodd's past remains a mystery, and it will be a long time before his past is revealed to the fans.

4 Scar – Fullmetal Alchemist

Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist

Originally, Scar was not a bad person, but after the massacre that took place in Ishval, he was forced to take up arms against the State Alchemists of Amestris. The civil war in Ishval led to the deaths of countless people and during the war, Scar lost his arm.

Scar's elder brother couldn't let his brother die, so he used the combination of alchemy and alkahestry to give his own arm to save Scar. Scar wanted to avenge the people of Ishval and once he invaded Amestris, he started killing State Alchemists. With time, Scar's character improved, but there's no doubt if he was given more time he could've turned out to be an even better character.

3 Bartholomew Kuma – One Piece

Bartholomew Kuma as a slave

Bartholomew Kuma used to be a member of the Shichibukai before he willingly turned himself in to become a test subject for Vegapunk's experiments. Kuma possesses the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, a paramecia-type devil fruit, that allows its user to repel attacks. The devil fruit is strong enough to push away attacks as well as other people.

During the Levely arc, it was revealed that Kuma had been turned into a slave by one of the Celestial Dragons, which makes it highly likely that Kuma does not have any consciousness left. It would have been better to give Kuma more screentime so that the fans could see his rise to power and how he became a member of the Shichibukai.

2 Overhaul – My Hero Academia

Kai Chisaki, AKA Overhaul (My Hero Academia)

Overhaul is easily among the best villains in My Hero Academia. He is the main antagonist of the Overhaul arc, which saw Midoriya and the other heroes take on a risky mission to save Eri and stop the production of Quirk destroying drugs.

Overhaul was at the center of things and his powerful Quirk made the arc extremely interesting. His fight against Mirio remains one of the best in the series. Overhaul was taken down by Midoriya, but he needed Eri's support. Sadly, after being defeated, Chisaki lost both his arms because of Shigaraki. A lot of fans wanted him to play a key role in other arcs, but with his Quirk gone, it's highly improbable that he would be involved in any serious action.

1 Risotto Nero – JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

Risotto Nero from JoJo

Risotto Nero was the leader of the Hitman Team, and he worked for Diavolo. However, Risotto and the rest of the group decided to go against Diavolo and so, they started to look for Trish as she was the only link to finding him. Risotto Nero and his group had to fight Bruno Bucciarati's gang.

Risotto did get an opportunity to fight Diavolo, and the leader of the Hitman Team dominated the fight. It is fair to say that Diavolo was very close to dying, but luckily for him Narancia's Aerosmith gunned down Risotto Nero. Risotto Nero had very limited appearances and considering that he had a powerful Stand, he should have had more screentime.
