When Will Ayumu Make His Move? is a wholesome anime that many have compared to Teasing Master Takagi-san, mainly due to the fact that the two main protagonists clearly like each other but they just won't admit it.
There are quite a few anime that follows the romantic subtext route, which often hints to the viewer of a blooming romance, but nothing ever comes of it, at least not straight away. The shows within this genre are gushing with wholesomeness and are perfect for when fans just want to watch a relaxing show at the end of the day.
6 Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro
Nagatoro is a popular character amongst fans of the romance genre, mainly due to her spikey personality and her blatantly obvious crush on Naoto, or as she likes to call him, "Senpai." Naoto is portrayed as a nerdy loner who likes to sit by himself in the library, or while he's painting in the art club. When she begins to tease him every day, he gets pretty embarrassed, especially as he believes she's actually bullying him.
As time goes on, she starts to seek him out and hang around him more often, as Nagatoro's feelings for Naoto grow stronger each day. She pulls him into an assortment of situations, many of which put Naoto at a disadvantage. It's pretty obvious they both like each other, but will they admit their feelings to each other?
5 Komi Can't Communicate
Komi Can't Communicate is a fan favorite, with the adorable Komi-san finding her way through high school life. She's seen as the most beautiful person in the entire school, and the students would do anything to be able to speak to her. On Tadano's first day, much to his surprise, he's seated next to Komi. Understandably, the other students are immensely jealous of him, which doesn't exactly bode well for his first day at school.
The fact Komi struggles to communicate with her peers makes her seem more mysterious and alluring to those around her, further adding to her popularity within the school. As time goes on, Tadano quickly realizes that Komi isn't rude, she's just extremely shy. She catches on to his understanding and their friendship slowly blossoms as Komi tries her best to communicate with him through the use of paper and pencil. Tadano vows to help Komi make one hundred friends during her high school years, and the show follows suit as she begins to attempt to communicate with her fellow students. For those who loved the show, the manga was also highly regarded prior to the anime's release.
4 Kaguya-sama: Love Is War
The student council in Shuchiin Academy is highly regarded amongst the students of the school, with Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya being two of the most highly respected members. The student council club includes some amazingly entertaining members such as the bubbly Chika. Miyuki is the top student in the entire nation, so naturally, he is the favorite choice to be the representative of the academy, alongside the mysterious Kaguya. She comes across as stern and emotionless while she dedicates the majority of her time to the student council.
Not only is she also smart, but she is also the eldest daughter within the Shinomiya family, with an ample amount of wealth and respect. From the get-go, it's quite clear to the viewers that both Miyuki and Kaguya have feelings for each other. The problem is, that they are both too stubborn to admit it. Both characters are incredibly prideful, whether it comes to their role within the school or within their personal lives. Throughout the show, Miyuki and Shirogane try their best to get the other to confess their feelings, but much to their dismay, they're both pretty strong-willed.
3 Teasing Master Takagi-san
Similar to Nagatoro, Takagi enjoys teasing her fellow classmate Nishikata. Despite this, they're pretty close overall, but their friendship means Takagi knows all of his weak points. She understands how he'll react to anything she does, creating a ton of entertaining situations for herself.
After being teased every day with no chance of being able to fight back, Nishikata promises to do his best to tease Takagi one day. He hilariously fails each time though, as nothing seems to be able to beat Takagi's relentless ways. The anime is a wholesome watch for those who enjoyed Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, and those who love relaxing, and wholesome shows.
2 Uzaki-Chan Wants To Hang Out!
Following a similar structure, Uzaki loves to be a bother to Sakurai. After reuniting during their freshmen year in college, after not seeing each other since high school, she's suddenly intrigued by his swift change of personality and lifestyle. Back in high school, Sakurai was known to be an active older student who enjoyed sports and was pretty outgoing overall. Much to her surprise, Uzaki discovers that Sakurai is now a "loner" and tends to spend more of his time quietly by himself.
Uzaki decides to try her best to ensure that Sakurai isn't alone all the time, and consistently attempts to make plans with him, even to the point of showing up at his workplace. As someone who prefers to be alone, Sakurai becomes frustrated with Uzaki's persistence. Despite his irritation, he decides to accompany Uzaki, even though their personalities are completely different. Uzaki is a bubbly girl who is super outgoing compared to Sakurai's quiet nature. They begin to get a lot closer as time goes on and are often mistaken as a couple due to how close they seem in public, but do they have feelings for each other?
1 Toradora!

In Toradora, the mature student Ryuuki Takasu loves to take part in housework chores and is quite a kind person overall. Despite this, those that don't know Ryuuji personally believe he is a "delinquent" due to his stern face and natural expression. Taiga Aisaka appears to be a small, cute, and innocent girl, yet she has a pretty intimidating personality once she's spoken to, often referred to by her fellow students as "Palmtop Tiger."
A certain situation leads to Ryuuji and Taiga getting to know each other, and much to Ryuuji's surprise, Taiga is actually a nice person deep down. He discovers she has a huge crush on Yuusaka Kitamura, the vice president of the school, who is also Ryuuji's best friend. Ryuuji then admits that he has feelings for Taiga's best friend, Minori Kushieda. The unexpected pair promise to help each other get with their crushes, but what ensues isn't quite what they first expected.
