Of the many traits and quirks that characters embody in anime, one frequent example is having a bad sense of direction. These characters are always getting lost, even when they're given directions or a map. This quirk is a great source of comedy, especially if the character is usually stoic or serious. Here are some of the most iconic characters with no sense of direction.

10 Haruna Otoo (Working!!)

Haruna Otoo is a very interesting side character even among the eccentric cast of Working!!. She is the wife of Hyogo Otoo, the general manger of the family restaurant Wagnaria, who is known for having an incredibly poor sense of direction.

Haruna's sense of directon is so bad that she frequently disappears for long lengths of time, forcing her husband to take long trips in order to look for her. Her ability to get lost is so strong that sometimes she can disappear from others' sight after turning away from her for even a moment.

9 Hatsuharu Sohma (Fruits Basket)

The tall and stoic Hatsuharu Sohma is a kind, brotherly figure who looks out for the younger members of the Sohma family. While he has a side to him that is aggressive and violent, Hatsuharu is mostly known for his calm and mature outlook.

However, he is also known for having quite the terrible sense of direction. It is so bad that when the Sohma family has their parties, Hatsuharu gets his invitations earlier, so he won't arrive late. While Hatsuharu is usually reliable, he has this one weak point.

8 Isumi Saginomiya (Hayate The Combat Butler)

Isumi Saginomiya is the best friend of Nagi Sanzen'in, and an affluent rich girl in her own right. She is very refined and reserved, constantly wearing Japanese clothes, and well versed in her family's art of exorcising demons.

As it happens, she is also supremely skilled at getting lost as well. While she is not as bad as other characters on this list, her tendency to forget her destination and disappear at the drop of a dime frequently lead her to get separated or lost.

7 Allen Walker (D. Gray-man)

The protagonist of D. Gray-man is a formidable member of the Black Order, having once been the apprentice of the powerful Cross Marian. Allen is kind, polite, and cares very much for his friends, even when circumstances force him to leave them behind.

While Allen Walker is a capable exorcist with a powerful Innocence, he also has a very bad sense of direction, leading him to get lost very easily. While this is not necessarily one of his most well-known traits, it is enjoyable to see the comedy that ensues when he does get lost.

6 Red Blood Cell AE-3803 (Cells At Work!)

Red blood cells are important workers in the body, as they facilitate the delivery of oxygen to each part of the body. Without the red blood cells, the body would be unable to get oxygen to most of its organs in time, causing its functions to fail.

This is why it's a little ironic that AE-3803 has a poor sense of direction, leading her to constantly get lost while on her way to deliver oxygen. Thankfully, she always manages to get to her destination with a little help from the other cells.

5 Sanosuke Sagara (Rurouni Kenshin)

The fight-loving brawler Sanosuke Sagara is a constant traveler, having once been a "fight merchant" who bought fights for fun. While he used to wander Meiji-era Japan on his lonesome, he currently hangs out around the Kamiya Dojo as an ally of Kenshin Himura and Kaoru Kamiya.

When he does strike out to travel somewhere, it's quickly made clear how bad his sense of direction is. Sanosuke will often get lost on his way to major fights, leading him to end up either in a completely different location or arriving at his destination late.

4 Mihoshi Kuramitsu (Tenchi Muyo!)

A member of the distinguished Kuramitsu family, Mihoshi Kuramitsu is a rather scatterbrained member of the police force. Constantly forgetful and with a mind that often wanders off into bizarre tangents, it's a wonder that Mihoshi is able to fulfill her duties as a Galaxy Police officer.

Naturally, Mihoshi also has a downright terrible sense of direction. This, along with her naturally airhead nature, can lead to her even ending up in places where it shouldn't be physically possible to enter, such as Washu's Lab.

3 Kenpachi Zaraki (Bleach)

Kenpachi Zaraki VS Nnoitra Gilga in Bleach

The eyepatch-sporting, bloodthirsty captain of the 11th Division is one of the more powerful members of the Gotei 13, despite not having a Shikai or even a Bankai for most of the series. Despite only caring about fighting, he has a charismatic air that draws the respect of his subordinates.

While he is incredibly powerful, he also lacks a sense of direction. His direction is bad enough that he defers navigation to his lieutenant Yachiru Kusajishi (who has a similarly bad sense of direction). As a result, he often arrives to fights late, or encounters other enemies on his way to fight another.

2 Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)

One Piece Roronoa Zoro Nitoryu Pound Ho

As the first member of the Straw Hat crew after Luffy, Roronoa Zoro is an incredibly familiar face. The green-haired wielder of the three-sword style is Luffy's most stalwart ally, and Luffy can always rely on him to take down some of the enemy's more powerful goons.

Of course, to do that he'll have to get to them first, which may be some trouble considering he's got a terrible sense of direction. Zoro's since of direction is so bad that he will immediately rush off in the wrong direction, even if his allies are with him.

1 Ryoga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2)

Ryoga Hibiki head shot

The unusually resilient and earnest Ryoga Hibiki is one of the most recognizable Ranma 1/2 characters. An eternal rival of Ranma Saotome, Ryoga wanders Japan in hopes of attaining strength so that he can finally claim a win over him.

This is not always on purpose; Ryoga's sense of direction is so terrible that even if he only needs to walk in a straight line, Ryoga will end up in another town. His sense of direction is so bad that he has stopped going to school and is rarely ever home. Ryoga is the most iconic character that sports a terrible sense of direction, and his escapades while lost are extremely hilarious.
