For the past decade, Minecraft has persisted as one of the most popular video games in the entire world. Now it seems even United States senator Bernie Sanders may get in on the Minecraft phenomenon, as a new TikTok video promises that he will learn how to play the game on one condition.

The TikTok in question was uploaded to the official Bernie Sanders TikTok page, submitted by user luacrio7642. It shows Minecraft gameplay, while also promoting some of Sanders' policies. The description for the video says that if it gets 6 million views, Bernie Sanders will learn how to play Minecraft. At the time of this writing, the Bernie Sanders Minecraft TikTok video is sitting at a little over 600,000 views, so it still has quite the ways to go to reach its goal. If the video actually does hit 6 million views, it will be interesting to see if Bernie Sanders actually does learn to play Minecraft, and how that would be shown to the audience. Bernie Sanders has a Twitch channel, so it's possible that his attempt to learn Minecraft will be shown there. Alternatively, it's possible that the content would be shown on TikTok, since that's where this video originated from.

Depending on how long it takes for the Bernie Sanders Minecraft TikTok video to hit 6 million views, it's possible he could attempt to learn the game on a next-generation platform. Minecraft with ray-tracing has already been demonstrated on the Xbox Series X, and one has to imagine that the ultra-popular game will be making its way to the PS5 as well. Of course, Sanders could just end up playing Minecraft on PC, or maybe even the mobile version of the game.

This isn't the first time Bernie Sanders has connected his 2020 presidential campaign to video gaming. In the past, Bernie Sanders has called for video game developers to unionize, and his campaign once issued a statement describing Sanders as a "gamer in spirit" that stands in "solidarity" with both players and developers.

Sanders has even appeared in some video game projects over the years. Back in 2016, a Kickstarter was successfully funded for a Bernie Sanders RPG, and more recently, the Super Bernie World video game was released online for free. Fans can check those projects out while they wait for Sanders to fulfill his Minecraft obligations.

Minecraft is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, along with many older platforms.
